I got this the last time they were here and I have used it a total of ONE time. So I’m basically an expert.
I got this because I got a new rug with looped pile. A normal vacuum beater brush will snag and ruin such a run, I have read, so I wanted one that I could turn off the brush.
You can do that with this model with the “trigger”. I don’t read manuals as a rule, so I started it up, pushed the obvious trigger, and it worked perfectly on the rug. To turn the brush back on, I did have to turn the vacuum off and then back on. There might be a simpler way to do it, but I’d probably have to read the manual to find out.
I do have a fur (medium length) machine masquerading as a dog in my house and this did suck up a scandalously immense amount of dog hair both on the rug and the laminate. I didn’t realize this was the animal model when I bought it, but it does say it is right on the box. From everything I’ve read (not a lot) the difference between that and the regular is the attachments.
I don’t recall the listing mentioning the smattering of additional attachments this comes with. Or maybe I just didn’t read that far. It does have a few small ones. Your standard little crevice tool, and a couple of others. I haven’t used them but they’re nothing fancy dancy like the new pet grooming one I’m coveting since my purchase. I think the new version of this has another fancy pet hair tool (for hair that’s already been released from its pet skin bondage).
Now that the holidays are upon us, we’ll be having more company and so I’ll be forced to start this baby back up again. I’ll let you know if I change my mind, but replacing my junktastic six-year-old Eureka upright was the best idea I’ve had, well, in 6 years.
Bought one awhile back, used it once and took it back. Messy to empty and the power nozzle will not work with a small rug on top of carpet. It just stops.
I bought this exact vacuum on Amazon about six weeks ago. It was a brand new model for $319. I can’t praise it enough. We have all hardwood downstairs and carpet upstairs. I needed a machine that performs well on both surfaces and can easily clean stairs and be carried up and down them. Not only does this fit the job, it’s the easiest to use machine I’ve ever owned. It’s lightweight, it turns very easily, and follows right behind me. It’s pretty small and very lightweight. I have no problem holding the machine in one hand and using the hose with the other while walking up the stairs. I love that you can essentially just use the one multi-floor attachment on almost anything, or go crazy and buy them all and use them each for different jobs. So far, my favorite attachment is the duster. It has very soft bristles that pick up even the smallest dust around my computer and TV. It’s also great for cleaning miniblinds. I will say that I think it’s easiest when used on hardwood vs carpet, but the results are equally great. Overall, I’d buy this machine again at $300+, so I think this is one heck of a deal.
We have this model Dyson for a while and only have the best things to say. It’s powerful on hardwood, tile, marble and large area rugs. We have never seen this price anywhere else. QVC had it the other day, double the price on their SALE. Refurbished from Dyson appears and works like brand new.
I got this a few months back (perhaps during its last appearance on Woot). I was really hesitant about the idea of a reconditioned product. I have mostly wood floors and a couple area rugs (low and med pile). This little vac is excellent. It’s easy to maneuver, easy to swap to the little attachments, easy to empty, and it works so well! I hate vacuuming and this makes the task so much less painful. This vac is designed so that I can clean the floors, get the top of the floor trim and pull down any cobwebs that are on the edge of the ceiling without any fuss.
I ALMOST bought this during the recent Woot Off, but it sold out as I was checking out. I bought a refurb Dyson DC28 about 2.5 years ago and it just went out. I believe it’s something electrical, but we tried to fix it and it didn’t work. It was the best vacuum I’ve ever owned and I was sad to see it go. (I tried vacuuming up spilled corn starch with the wand and I think it was too fine for it and shorted something out.) One good thing about Dyson is that there are ample videos online for repairs. We tried replacing the switch, but it didn’t work.
I had been saying if I ever replaced the DC28, I’d like to try their canisters and so I was really sad that I missed this one. A couple of days later, I found a brand new Shark Rotator Professional Lift Away on clearance at Sam’s for only $179 (open box, not used) and I thought I’d see for myself if all the claims were true about it being as good as the Dyson.
I have to say I’m very pleased with the Shark, but seeing the Dyson on here today makes me a little sad. I’ve got lots of Dyson attachments that would fit this vacuum and I’d probably have waited had I known it would be back on here so fast, but alas, I have to admit (rather reluctantly) that the Shark seems to be a darn good vacuum and even though I’m sad about missing out on this one, I think I’ve got a competent replacement if it performs well in the long run like the DC28 did. Other than the incredibly bulky head, I loved the DC28 and it performed like new til the day it died.
I guess all this rambling is to vent my frustration on missing out on this Dyson, but also rationalizing to myself that I did get what appears to be a good vacuum, even if it is another brand.
Got one. It really SUCKS! But in the way you want a vacuum to suck. I don’t like the proprietary connection of accessories. A regular slip on fit would mean I could use some old accessories. The hose could be longer. At $200 is is a good buy. At the regular price it is way overpriced.
I bought this a few months back here on Woot. This is the best deal around for this vacuum. If you just can’t stand a refurb, (which mine looked new) head to Costco and pay 50% more (on sale now) plus tax and you have a new one. Only thing you are paying for, in my mind, with the new one is the 5 year warranty- which I sure wish I had, but not as much as the extra money I have in my pocket.
This works perfectly on hardwood, nothing gets by it. It works decently on carpet, but if you go over it enough it will get just about everything mainly due to the crazy powerful suction.
As with any Dyson to keep it running well plan on cleaning it after each use, that is part of the down side of not having a bag. You not only have to empty the canister but clean the cyclone and beater brush every few cleanings.
I put it in my cart and tried to check out, but it told me I had to be 21 to buy wine, told me that others had “beat me to it” (but let me empty my cart and still order it again), and showed only bracketed comments in the price and shipping column. I’m just getting off lunch and have no more time to mess with it. Disappointed.

I’m sorry for the problems. Did you have anything else in your cart? If you could PM me details of
