Would this decrease the # of sparks flying off the fire? (a little safer in a campground?)
Can you cook on this beyond marshmellows?
I don’t own one of these smokeless fire pits, but I’ve been looking at/researching them for a while. Based on what people say they move the heat upwards instead of out. This makes them less than ideal for a campground if you’re looking to stay warm unless everyone is going to hover directly over them. However, it means you don’t have to do the “campfire shuffle” as the winds change and the smoke goes with it.
The other major players of these are solo and breeo. Solo are made in china, not as well made, but far cheaper. They seem to have a never ending marketing budget as you see them EVERYWHERE.
Breeo is far less known, but in my opinion much cooler. Made in the US- PA, it has the price tag to prove it. The neatest thing about it is the rim that you can cook meat and other things on. They are better built than solo and much heavier as a result.
I’ve never heard of East Oak. I’d guess they are either close to Solo or a step down.
One word of warning that seems pretty much universal, these things go through wood like crazy. So expect to have a huge bundle of firewood available during planned use. And the weight makes them somewhat mobile for the smaller sizes of Solo (and likely East Oak), but the bigger sizes are more set it in one location and don’t move it unless absolutely necessary.
I hope this helps someone!
One of the photos show people on a wood deck using this. Is this safe?
Wondering that myself…
