Does Amazon sell the corresponding remote?

@Wooter337085707.
They do. And it’s a fair price. But I can honestly tell you that most people never use the remote. I got a remote to go with the device, for each family member. They never use 'em. So, you can buy 'em on Amazon all day long, but you might want to hold off and see if you wven need it. Touch controls and voice commands work just fine and are sufficient.

Alexa just sucks

I have 5 Alexa devices in the house and about to dispose of them all

It NEVER works on the first request which I now say VERY LOUDLY.

I have to SCREAM a second time at any of them AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS so loud the neighbors hear me to get any of them to respond.

I’ve had it with these failed device.

Before you give up on these, they are being upgraded to add AI (mostly means HUGE new sample databases and training routines to make these MUCH more effective). Things like much more generic commands you don’t have to “steer through the weeds” like you do NOW.

On the OTHER hand, for this price you would get better value by spending not-that-much-more and buying a smart TV with a smart remote - you miss out on the multi-microphone sensitivity, but you may not CARE.

Man, I picked one of these up on Prime Day for about the same price, and let me tell you, it beats the pants off any other digital picture frame in this price range. Plus if you already have Amazon Prime, you get unlimited photo storage for it and you don’t have to deal with SD cards (32GB max!), or a monthly cloud storage fee and some janky cut-rate app.

Hmm. My Echo Show is frustrating. Also Echo devices. For some reason in the past year they’ve gotten far stupider about interpreting commands, and even worse about recognizing which damn device I am talking to. Like I talk into an Echo in the living room from literally an inch away and my Echo in the bedroom answers. Every single time.

This never used to happen.

I’m going to hold off on more Echo stuff until I see what this new AI Alexa is like.

If I could easily fine-tune this show 15 to show me a feed of news, weather, photos, alerts, notifications, as I want them to be, I’d get this in a second. But my current show can’t do half the things I want, and “customizing” it. Is torture. Terrible slow buggy interface.

I picked up one of these in April packaged with the remote, on sale, and then a further Echo device return discount, for a bundle of $195. So this is a great deal if you buy the $29 remote.

Unlike another commenter above, I use the remote frequently, particularly when I don’t feel like interrupting media ti use voice control for changing the volume. There are also a number of apps that don’t work well with just the touch screen controls (it’s def. a bit…annoying eclectic that way.), or when I don’t want to get up and walk over to the E15 to use the screen.

I have no issues with her hearing me. No more than any other Echo device I have. Most negative comments I see are about Alexa in general, or tend to be user error, and nothing specific to this device.

I have it mounted to our kitchen wall using a heavy duty articulating mount with a swivel adapter. It’s parked near the wall in landscape mode 90% of the time, but when needed we can extend it out, move it up or down based on user height (I’m tall, Mrs Gryhnd is not), and swivel from landscape to portrait easy peasy. All of this has the benefit of it sweeping out towards our center island and where we can read recipes.

The speakers are like any crappy LED TV or laptop. Which means they stink. I have ours paired with an inexpensive BT sound bar mounted above the kitchen door. It’s like night and day.

TLDR; this is a great price, don’t be discourage by the naysayers, and get the remote.

Hey there. I removed some political talk. We have a dedicated thread for that.

I have about 10 devices throughout my house. Not only do they know which room I’m speaking in, but they also can differentiate between mine, my wife’s, and my kid’s voices.

A couple of things that can cause an issue with these device’s responsiveness are; internet issues, Wi-Fi signal strength, or you haven’t set up an Alexa profile (learns your voice).

Other things to consider is that it’s possible that your microphone is covered in debris or dust. You may also need a software update.

I feel like they need more wake words… or the ability to add your own. I have 3 devices (show 5, dot & fire cube) within about 10 feet of each other that I use for different things. If I got one of these, it would be in the same room as these other 3, and have to share one of the names, so I feel like things would get a little messy trying to talk to a specific one.

Does this have any web browser function? I’d like to keep the display pointed to a web site.

I’ve seen reports that when this happens that there’s dust on the mic. It might be worth trying a good cleaning before chucking them all in the trash.

I googled

can you display a webpage echo show 15

and I believe the answer is yes.

Thanks @ThunderThighs ! I’ve been looking for something like this to display my Virtual Radar Server on my kitchen wall. The rest is just gravy. In for one.

Have you tried teaching Alexa your voice? Not sure if it helps but every time I set up a new device she asks me.
