ECOVACS DEEBOT N78 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

ECOVACS DEEBOT N78 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Well going to take a chance on it for my mostly carpeted 1400sf house and see how it does. We do have a few areas, like the kitchen, of vynil floors and reviews say it does alright on low carpet so hoping for the best. If it can at least get the high traffic areas a bit better between major vacuuming with my upright and canisters it’ll be a win.

I’m taking a shot here. I was happy with my N79 but it died after 13 months. Fortunately I had the Square Trade warranty and got the full purchase price refunded. I tried to buy a warranty here but the Square Trade link takes me to a page that requires Flash. Do any browsers even support that anymore? Any way I can get a warranty without breaking out a Windows XP machine.

I’m afraid that you’re going to be in for a disappointment. This device does not work well on carpet. There is no floor brush, so the only thing it will pick up on carpet is whatever happens to be lying right on top. And not even all of that.

Taking a chance on this item. We have luxury vinyl planks and needed something without a beater bar. Seems like it does decent job on hard surfaces.

Twiki’s interested at least… Be de de de be… Hiya Buck!

Have one from the last time it was on Woot. It’s great on hardwood floors. It actually picks up a lot of debris you would normally miss, but feel with bare feet. Its by no means a “smart” machine, it picks up in a random pattern and always manages to get in the way. Don’t leave any cords around because it will snag. Overall, for the price, its does a decent job, this is my first robot vac and I’m pleased with it.

It doesn’t do much for carpet. Collects the surface and any long hair will get tangled in the brushes.

Well, we don’t have a dog or cat, just a messy Maximilian Parrot Named Dobby and his little area for his house is the entry way vinyl square on the front door we never use so maybe it can at least sorta keep up with him which would also be a win though I doubt it likes bigger chunks of dropped food and like that.

Showed up today so I unboxed it and it had a charge so hit auto and let it go. It wandered around the carpet, mostly drove around obstacles and did random patterns for probably 40 minutes. It did get some of the surface crumbs, was very quiet, and actually had good power as far as getting over area rugs and things and even made it over some big cords. It did get stuck a few times and wound up in small cords but could run over little things I thought would stop it. It must use infra red and bump sensors because it would slow down before big obstacles or bump and steer away from them. It’s charging now and obviously isn’t awesome for rugs but did ok. Be interesting to see how it does with the bird crumbs area but it never made it that far. If you have solid floors it should be great, and will work on low carpet just not get everything. Happy for the money anyways and it was entertaining.

OK, put it the birds spot and other then scaring the crap outa poor Dobby it eventually picked up all the bird crumbs under his cage on the vinyl threshold where he lives so that is definitely a win right there if you have hard floors and a messy pet area.
