There is no link for this forum under the posting @ThunderThighs and I was wondering if anyone has this and would you recommend it for an almost teen?
There are dozens of this kind of chair, and theyâre all essentially identical. The biggest problem with them is that the padding is memory foam on a flat board; theyâre comfortable until the memory foam wears out, then youâre just sitting on plywood. As long as you treat them as consumables and understand it will need to be replaced every so often, itâs fine. How long depends on the weight of the user.
He is a really small almost 13. Do you have a recommendation that will last him for a number of years?
lol, a dinning room chair! if its comfortable, it works.
i have seen these chairs, or ones just like it, at staples. maybe your kido can try them out there?
Thereâs one factory that makes these things and they just put different names on it. Some of them have âleatherâ, some are cloth, For a 13 year old it should last quite a while. They usually lasted me a couple of years, but Iâm 6â3 and until recently 300 pounds. As Malhanon says below, go somewhere that sells them (Any office supply store will have them if they have a seating / desk section) and try them out.
âOne factoryâ is a slight exaggeration, but Iâd be surprised if there were more than two. Search Amazon for âracing gaming chairâ and youâll find hundreds of them in all price ranges.

I own one of this type ($400 brand) chair. One thing to note as well as âcomfort reviewsâ is the Arm Rest. It is not designed for lounging. Consider a full Arm Rest chair for that type of seating

Some of these are made for lounging as well. And arenât $400. Thatâs a ludicrous price, unless youâre buying an overpriced X-Chair. This specific one is currently unavailable. But, there are others with footrests that can recline flat for lying down(lounging).

A very inexpensive solution to that here. I highly recommend them if buying a chair like this.
This chair is a huge piece of junk. Iâm really sorry I bought it. It lacks any fit or finish and is difficult to assemble. The chair feels like itâs going to fall apart quickly. Iâm probably just going to sell it and take the loss. I really wish I could find a quality gaming chair.
Look for one that has springs instead of memory foam. The chair I currently have is

(It was not 450$ when I bought itâŚ) and itâs been pretty good. Iâm ~250 pounds now, and donât bottom out on the seat. I bought a cloth cover because leather is miserable to sit on and itâs lasted me two years in Feb, which is a year longer than any other chair since my first one. (A wooden framed spring seated executive office chair I got for 5$ from a used office furniture storeâŚended up pitching it when a T bolt broke rather than replacing it, and have regretted it ever since. Iâd still have that chair if I had replaced that boltâŚ)
