Oddly, when I go to Walmart.com and do a search for Farbereare 6 speed mixer they show $99 as you indicate, but they are out of stock with no expected “due in” date and also does not have the usual “click here to be informed when available”. My guess is this exact model is being discontinued.

So your point is only less than half valid. It is always better to post the actual URL as a link than just upload a picture.

It shows 6 reviews all from 2019 and 3 of them say the whisk broke and they can’t find a replacement. I think I’ll pass.

They are in stock in my local area

That’s not the pretty red. The red is $149.

Any stand mixer under $150 is gonna be crap. Plastic and light weight. Parts will break easily. When it comes to stand mixers you gotta invest in a good one.

Tru dat gets what you pay for

Yup, it’s not a Kitchenaid just a knockoff.

Disagree, I bought this for $50(!) more than a year ago and it has been going strong. Solid metal throughout. Truly great value compared to a Kitchen Aid.

Can you buy attachments for it, or will it take Kitchenaid attachments?

Bought the $399 (biggest one they make) KitchenAid when I found it on sale for $299. Guess what? Unlike mom’s 40 year old one, most of this is plastic now too. Her manual showed a 5 year warranty way back then. Mine showed 2 years, and when it fried out / smoke from motor after only 18 months (it had made a grinding noise that the KitchenAid customer support said was normal right from the start) I was told "box it and ship it to us, we will check it out. Apparently you can only return it to where you bought it for a limited time as set by the store (6 months where I bought it) and after that you can pay shipping BOTH WAYS for warranty service, with an advance warning that if it appears abused you will be charged for the repair - as well as shipping. Cheaper the buy the $99 one and replace it every 3-4 years.

Good know! It’s kind of sad that brands that were specifically known for their quality for decades have taken a sharp decline. Even with people willing to pay more for said quality. Schwinn bikes, Singer sewing machines, KitchenAid mixers…

That said, my Vitamix is still awesome. It’s the top line model, I got it when the new shorter style came out.

Nope, that’s not true. I bought one in 2018 and its works great! Its all metal, no plastic parts. With Kitchenaid you’re paying for the name, not the product.

Back in the early 70’s a Oster kitchen blender with a plastic jug sold for $29, not bad huh?

Well $29 back then is worth $171 today!

Back then there were appliance repair shops everywhere because everything was so expensive, including repairs. That’s changed now, a $29 blender with a glass jug breaks after a year or so toss it and get another one as you’re better off than 50 years ago. This holds true with your mother’s vintage Kitchenaid stand mixer, it was a major purchase back then, today…not so.

How do I know this? I was a RadioShack store manager in the 1970’s and a basic “stereo” for $230 was a major purchase, $1,350 and usually financed! Today, its nothing to drop $130 at Walmart and get a sound system.

One must compare apples to apples. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The performance of that $130 dollar sound system at Walmart can’t come close to the $250 stereo from the early '70’s. I know, I have a '70’s system still running here that still sounds great. I was going to update to something that NOW costs about $250, but ended up putting it in the garage - sounded flat and tinny.

Take the aluminum case off your machine. They use the same plastic gears that are in a singer sewing machine sold for commercial use. They are meant to last about 4-6 years. You can buy replacement sets ($60 for 2 pcs.) that are in KitchenAid packaging. Unlike my Kenmore dryer (made by Whirlpool actually) that the replacement parts bought when the drum rollers failed were steel and brass replacements of plastic factory parts, My KitchenAid mixer had hard plastic gears and the replacements I tracked down were plastic also. Different plastic, but still plastic. I “loaned” the replacements to one of the guys in our machine shop for a couple days and a week later he gave me a brass pair with steel centers. He said he made as many as he could get out of a 18" piece of stock, and gave all but my 2 to his B.I.L. who runs one of those non-existent appliance repair shops…
