Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote

I have several generations of Fire Sticks, and the only one I’ve had no hitching/glitching/hanging issues with playing MKV videos via VLC player is the Fire TV Cube. Not saying this one -won’t- do it, just that it may struggle decoding more densely compressed video. I would imagine it would handle MP4 alright, since that generally only has 2-3 audio streams, as long as it’s not greater than 1080p and not heavily compressed or HDR.

Try Jellyfin, it’s free and uses less resources than Plex so it usually results in smoother playback.

Easy and convenient? With a Firestick? Not together.

With some ease and convenience, I’d say setup a Plex/Emby/Jellyfin server and stream that way.

My 2 cents - the Fire(stick/box/etc) devices tend to radically slow down after about 2 years or so compared to their competitors. That, and the Fire devices are GIANT advertisements for all things Amazon. More so, again, than their competitor’s devices.

Will these remotes work with newer generation Fire Sticks? I lost a remote and this would be a cheap replacement.

On the other hand, the remote is great and often costs more than just buying a Stick anyway. So I’m buying this just for the remotes.

Note the dollar off is per order, not per item.

Seems they would do it per item, considering that’s all bonus. They could easily give us a $3 discount for each additional item and still make more money vs selling only one. Bottom line, I only got one, since it’s just a backup. I would have gotten a second if it was also $7. If extras were $5 instead of $8, I’d probably have gotten third, just because.

I won once but I’d already had my BoC for the month. Felt very cheated - as hadn’t had a BoC for months prior

Buy a later model with a power button. You won’t need two remotes to run your TV.

I’ve got lots of video on portable USB hard disks [e.g. WD Passport], & use the [relatively] cheap Tivo 4k streamer. I’ve got it set up with a small powered USB hub that provides the power for both the hard disk & the Tivo. The only hassle was the cable to connect the hub’s USB A to the Tivo’s USB C – the 3 small adapters I tried wouldn’t work, so had to go to a cable.

Hey Woot, where is my $1 discount?

Where are the volume and power buttons? What a waste. Pointless product

Original remotes never had that function. And unless you match it to your TV, it’s not even really useful to have. I’ve never used that function, and I like these controllers better than the newer models.

In regards to the difference of the listing of “Condtion” without the (1) and the other WITH (1)

The information you provided is completely incorrect and false,
You work / volunteer for woot and then post wrong information.

I ordered two of the Very Good and one of the Very Good (1).
I received them all in one box today.
The ones without the (1) came in long thin box while the other came in a cubic box, thats not important.
The ones without the (1) they came with the 1st gen Alexa remote ( no TV control ) while the one WITH (1) came with the upgraded remote that has the TV Control Buttons.
They also have different model number on the box and the recipt says two different ones to.

I’m not happy with that outcome and this is the 2nd time this happnes, a while ago I ordered two of the 4K version that comes with sd card ( one without the (1) and one with and they also came different models.

See attached photos

If you’re unhappy with your purchase W00ts customer service can help you out.

I do not work for Woot as clearly stated above.

The information I provided you about the duplicate drop down is not false. This is what everyone is told when that happens.

You received an incorrect model which is not the same as incorrect item condition.

I suggest you politely reach out to Customer Service for support.

I’ll tag @ThunderThighs as well.

@AIMtheWOOT Please do not attack our volunteer mods for trying to help.

She was correct that there’s no difference between Good and Good (1). Those items had different Woot SKUs (same Amazon ASIN to our knowledge) and we can’t combine inventory so we have to list them separately.

As to why you got different items, I’ll bring this up to our buyer who will discuss it with the Amazon devices team. They were presented to us as the same item.

UPDATE: Buyer said that a few of the models may come with an updated remote that we don’t advertise. Inventory can be mixed so we advertise the most likely and surprise if you get something better. What are you unhappy about? Getting the updated remote?

So just received mine, happy for the shipping but surprised as it either came super early this morning or last night. But yeah, both remotes came with the TV controls. A bit surprised as I wasn’t expecting it (was expecting the first gen).

@ThunderThighs
What? I didn’t attack anyone. My response was “First gen remotes only had the basic function”, I think you were trying to reply to that AIMtheWOOT guy.
