FoodSaver GameSaver Vacuum, Black

FoodSaver GameSaver Vacuum, Black

I paid $40 for my vacuum sealer. Appears to do exactly what this does. Going on Amazon shows tons of sub $50 versions with same results.

Why is this worth twice the price of the competition? Am I missing something?

Features tab shows it has 12v adapter to use on the go for hunting/fishing can seal 80 consecutive bags or 240lbs. That is ton more then my household foodsaver can do. I bet that cheap vac sealer would die after that amount lol.
Great price for $99.99

Gotcha, so basically it can do more sealing in one go than normal ones? Makes sense.

Reviews on their mothership are extremely negative. https://www.foodsaver.com/vacuum-sealers/wild-game-vacuum-sealers/foodsaver-gamesaver-big-game-plus/GM700-000.html

Appears Amazon has some similar reviews for multiple GameSaver models. Here is the most upvoted review for the product per Amazon with 27 upvotes:

The one thing this is quoted as being designed for, ā€œ80 consecutive seals,ā€ is what it is the worst at. The entire reason for this to exist is to be heavy duty, however in all aspects it comes short.

This system over heats, has a VERY slow suction motor compared to MUCH cheaper models from Foodsaver, and takes 2-3 times longer to seal any food item compared to the ā€œcheapā€ models from Foodsaver.

Another MAJOR flaw is the locking mechanism, the first unit I tried, it failed within a week, the second unit got wobbly after two weeks. This will no doubt fail on all models, after a reasonable use time, compared to older models I have that have lasted for several years with no problems.

The reason for 2 stars, is that I love the built-in cutting feature to easily measure bags out for different food sizes, but for every other function that this provides, please do yourself a favor and skip it. If you really want to give it a shot, Amazon has a great return policy so you won’t have any risk.

Do you have experience with this model or are we just trusting the datasheet?

A lot of complaints that the gasket on it constantly goes. Even the positive reviews mention having to have the device serviced multiple times. Pretty concerning.

I have a regular home foodsaver that is going on 6 years with no problems.

A 2 year old review doesn’t sway me because manufactures can update parts in new production.

See, those reviews for the bad models going back two years indicate that that’s what Woot! is trying to offload for Amazon now, on the cheap. They aren’t trying to clearance the good models.

Show the proof on that to back up that statement. I’ll wait.

Def worth asking because my off brand is going strong BUT I looked at this one seriously when my previous foodsaver died because I REALLY wanted the feature with the built in cutter

Someone sell my on this, please :joy:

I mean, it seems a lot more likely, no? This is a closeout and overstock clearance site.

FoodSaver quality has gone downhill in recent years. I just had an ancient FoodSaver model (520 or something along those lines. It was my Mom’s old one) that died on me. So, I purchased the FM2000 to replace it. Very little suction and I was extremely displeased with their (lack of) support on it. I found a Cosori model on Amazon for much less that had more features and it arrived last week. So far, it’s working well. Took a total chance on it, but it had decent reviews. If it works for at least a few years, I’ll be happy. I’m not a heavy user, so I don’t expect to wear it out too fast. So, I’m not going to be one to promote anything by FoodSaver. I certainly believe any reports that it has no suction and might break down quickly.

Just because he/she can’t prove it, doesn’t make it false. I have no problem believing that’s what Woot does. And another thing Woot does in unbelievably inflate the retail prices.

We use a ā€˜gamesaver’ Foodsaver.
We’ve burned up a few of the regular Foodsavers because we seal many dozens of bags at once, mostly when the garden is harvested or we buy bulk meat.
The gamesaver one has lasted years now & keeps sucking like new.

That does it.

Never Shopping At Woot Again
