I have had trouble with external drives connecting in the past. A lot of the times, it because the computer isn’t supplying enough current to the device through the USB port. Sometimes it’s a low quality cable (that was the issue with a drive I thought was failing last week). If it’s a current issue, you can try using a powered USB hub. That is usually enough to help.

Looks like it’s a dodgy cable. The extension cable that comes with it isn’t seating correctly, which is the disconnection rondelay’s cause. I’ve got it set now, and just done a mass copy to test it (I don’t trust the integrity of a lot of little drives like this.) I’ll get a new extender and that ought to solve the issue.

I’ll hold off adding to the chaos for now. It looks like the included extension cable is the problem. I’ll know better when the replacement cable arrives.

Glad you were able to figure it out!
