I have an old Garmin I bought used for $25. I wonder if it’s worth it to upgrade. This is half off the going price.
I have had a tactix charlie since october 2018. It was not like a tank, and the duration of the battery is still around 12 days.
I knew a Garmin employee, who hooked me up with the employee discount.
The battery and build quality are amazing. The infrequent need to charge means that i shouldn’t need to think about replacement for another 5 years or so. Compare that with any other fitness watch, and you’re charging 6 times as often. Most lithium ion batteries have about 400-500 cycles before degradation sets in. No other company I’ve seen so far can compete.
Many reasons to buy one and use it for 5-10 years as opposed to 1-2 years.
The newer Garmin watches have awesome features, but my TC isn’t going to need replacement for a long time still. Monetarily and environmentally, these watches are great choices.
Oh, and garmin is headquartered in Kansas, most product produced in Taiwan. Garmin also has always presented me with great customer service. (Had some issues with a gps unit suction mount and layer the unit itself. They replaced the unit, well put of warranty.
Unless they change something, I’ll be a garmin customer for life.
