I got this from a previous wooting for my mom for Christmas.

It has a full-size keyboard and the largest screen of the netbook family. Great for old people!

Is this eligible for a Windows 7 upgrade?

I have this and the keyboard is a bit of a pain. Many times, the keys stick and don’t type and can be very frustrating when trying to write things. Other than that though, its a bangin’.

you wouldn’t want to.

best bet is to wipe the hard drive and put xp on it.

With these specs, this should be called a “notebook” and not a “netbook.”

Not a bad price, but after CES (i.e., in 7-10 days or so), expect existing netbook prices to drop in response to updated Pinetrail versions. For poor orphans like this machine, prices should logically drop the most–remember how cheap Asus eee 70x and 90xs became after larger chassis machines came to rule the roost?

But hey, I’d buy one of these for $150, if we get to that point…

Got one last time it was offered here (same price), like it a lot.

Sorry it’s not eligible for the Win7 upgrade.

A Cnet review.

Gateway has crappy WiFi

This does NOT qualify for a free Windows 7 upgrade. However, adding Windows 7 to this lil guy is a must! It runs faster and the battery life is better. This thing can handle windows 7 (Full and not Starter) better than any netbook out there. Just compare the specs with the other netbooks on the market and you will see they can hardly run the Starter edition. I have installed Windows 7 on 4 of these gateways and everyone loves them.

Put Ubuntu Remix on it. Its a linux designed for Net Books, it’ll run much better than Vista and its free.

Looks like it can’t run youtube or hulu full screen without stutter, I am out.

Any thoughts on how the well the processor will run? It’s a bit less than I’m accustomed to.

I love my MSI U100 netbook, but I’d think twice about going for a Netbook running Vista. XP or Windows 7, yes, but Vista no - not with the 2 gig ram that comes with this.

I have a different 11.6 netbook and an 8.9 netbook.

I gotta say, the resolution on the 11.6 monitor and the 6-cell battery hits the sweet spot on what you need a netbook to do. Future netbooks will be able to play HD video, but if that’s not a priority for you, I recommend getting this netbook.

It’s a refurb, so no. Only new windows machines are eligible.

You shouldn’t spill random liquid crap on your PC.

If you haven’t you might want to check with tech support for a new keyboard  No problems like that with mine.

I do have to wonder.. this I think is at least the 3rd time this model has been offered recently (and I think also another time in a Woot off). Why are there so many of these refurbished?
