As always, my question would be: Is the RAM upgradeable? Or is it soldered in place? I did not see it specified.
Because Windows works better with 16 GB.

The short answer is no. This is a very basic, budget friendly laptop intended for those with limited requirements like web browsing, document editing, and video streaming. OEM often use soldered RAM in order to maintain costs while allowing a thin, lightweight device at a value based price.
Per Google AI
The RAM in the Gateway 14.1" Ultra Slim Notebook with the AMD Ryzen 5 3500U is soldered directly to the motherboard, making it impossible to upgrade. The laptop comes standard with 8 GB of memory, which is the maximum amount it can support.
