I’ve had bad luck with refurbished items on Woot! the last couple of years. I purchased this. Has anyone else picked this up and can comment on how clean/banged up it was on arrival?

Received mine yesterday. 1st issue was that it had a weird smell to it that I could smell coming through the box even before opening it. 2nd issue was that this unit clearly had not been refurbished in even the slightest way. It was still dirty from previous buyer. It had water spots all over the plastic pieces. Down in the water tray area was water stained and very dirty. 3rd issue was that the cabinet has a huge dent in the corner. SMDH. Why not just label these as used instead of refurbished?
Not only Refurbished, but supposedly Factory Reconditioned. It should be in like-new condition.
I wonder what others have received?

Box was aweful, but the product was in good shape. Has a faint smell and water spots, but it’s what I would expect from a factory reconditioned product. The warranty registration is not easy though as they require a “warranty number” that isn’t provided that I can find. I hope CS can help out with that.

The stainless model is the listed model #. The black stainless is the one being sold. The one difference between the two is the color.

There’s also a 4 in the black stainless model number that arrived indicating it’s a refurbished model.
Woot is absolutely ghosting me over this. The box that mine came in was a generic brown box. I tried cleaning this dirty thing out hoping that maybe it will work. I spent an entire day running the cleaning process as outlined in the pamphlet. I run 4 complete cleaning cycles with bleach water that the pamphlet said to do, then run plain water through it another dozen times, just trying to get the weird smell out of it. Thought I had it and run it to make ice and of course the ice tasted like chemicals. Rinsed it out a few more times and tried making ice again. It made ice for about a half hour and then started making a horrible screeching noise and wouldn’t stop even when turning the machine off and only stopped when I unplugged it.
I will be reaching out to my bank tomorrow to get my money back.
I’d feel the same way. CS hasn’t let me down yet when it comes to a refund (or replacement) for such things. Sometimes it takes a few days. It doesn’t make you feel any better in the moment, though, especially for larger ticket items like this. I hope you get it resolved quickly!
I do notice you have a warranty password on the back of your unit on the top label and I do not. Interesting.

Mine showed up with a cracked ice bin and the site hasnt updated so that i can do a return or at least see what my options are.
Ours just showed up w/ cracked door and coffee stain on top. Water stains on old label. Not worth time to take pic. Gross F woot.

Mine also came in a brown box. Water spots around the unit with a dent in the back. The 2 hoses were sticky and dirty and the cap has some white residue on the tips that go into the hose(hard water?). The tape on the scoop didn’t fully come out and it’s pretty much stuck in there.
I sanitized it and it seems to be running well but the wifi address that shows up is different from the sticker, so I can’t use the app since the PW does not match either.
I think that when these were being refurbished, they just started taking out the back panels en masse and just mixed them when they put it back together.
When I placed my order the black stainless was the only one showing in stock. What I received was the Stainless.
Mine arrived 2 days ago, and the box was like the others posted in horrible shape, but the box was for the black stainless. When I opened it the unit inside looked brand new, everything taped down like the factory does too avoid rattling. I still ran through the cleaning and rinsing process twice then tossed the first batch of ice. Took me a full day to notice it was the wrong color, which doesn’t matter to me at all.
Honestly I couldn’t be more happy with mine.
