This isn’t a multitool. Just a knife and a MONEY CLIP.

This is one of those solutions looking for a problem. Why would this be better than a pocket knife with a 3" blade?

I was looking for a tiny little pocket knife that could fit in my coin pocket of my jeans. This was one of two that I landed upon that I tried out, and although it’s longer (requires a deeper pocket) than the other when stored (Smith & Wesson Benji), I find it far easier to quickly access and put away.

It’s definitely a niche type of thing. I can’t really have “blades” (3" or over) at work, and sometimes my dulled-edge box-cutter keychain isn’t enough for my needs. This is convenient, non-threatening, and still quite sharp. Just have to be a little careful/mindful with it since it’s an awkward size.

I saw Woot had this on offer and was curious what the comments were or would be. If you haven’t wanted or needed a knife this tiny, I suspect it would just be mocked. For its (diminutive) purpose, I find it quite handy!

CountyComm offers such things, tiny box cutter blades in protective sheaths. Looks handy but awkward to use. Is it?

I don’t personally find it awkward to use. It’s a blade on a ring. It’s actually kind of fun to spin it around on a finger, almost like a slightly dangerous fidget toy. It would definitely depend on what it’s used for in terms of whether it would be awkward to use. My intention is just to have a sharp edge on-hand for those perfect moments of small needs:

  • Cutting the plastic price tag fasteners on clothing
  • Cutting plastic box support straps
  • Starting a tear on a container without a perforation (i.e.: fertilizer bag, animal food bag, etc.)

It can be used for tasks that a standard folding knife would be more apt to handle, but not as easily. Right tool for the right job and all. I just can’t have that on me most of the time, nor would it be as convenient for the style of clothing I commonly wear.

I will say though, if one is more used to carrying a standard folding knife, this will most likely seem more like a toy, or a joke, and probably wouldn’t be grabbed quite as often as your standard carry.

For a $40 MSRP, I’d expect them to at least mention what kind of steel it is.

420HC stainless steel blade, 400 series stainless steel case. My best guess. That’s most of their multi tools but this one in particular I don’t know: it’s not in their catalog, presumably a closeout.
