This is a good price for a knife set that received a rating of 85 from Consumer Reports. This rating was the same numerical rating given to the Wusthof Classic and Zwilling Four Star knife sets. CR rated the Zwilling Twin Professional “S” and Wusthof Classic Ikon knives slightly higher. All of these other highly rated knives are much more expensive.
I paid $72.99 for a 12 piece Ginsu Chikara knife set from Amazon back in 2015. It is essentially the same set with 4 steak knives and a wooden block with 11 slots. (I received 4 steak knives with stamped blades. Amazon currently is selling 4 Ginsu Chikara steak knives with forged blades for $24.99.) They perform well and hold an edge well. They are a little more prone to rust spots than the other top rated knives. I do prefer my Wusthof Grand Prix knives over the Ginsu Chikara. I bought the Ginsu Chikara knife set to use at a family shore house. I also bought a set for my son and his wife. These knives are great for someone just starting out or someone who has been using a set of knives that don’t perform as well from a well known brand like Calphalon.
