Gladiator® Adjustable Height Overhead Storage Rack

Gladiator® Adjustable Height Overhead Storage Rack

Has Gladiator replaced the hardward included with these? Online reviews report that even with pre-drilling holes, almost every bolt is snapping in two during installation. Sounds like they had a huge QC issue and now have to dump these. For those purchasing, would recommend purchasing your own hardware when hanging these - or at least test a few bolts on scrap wood before having them break off in your ceiling. A good bolt should be able to withstand it.

Hung up two of these a week ago… Didn’t predrill and didn’t have any issues with the lag bolts. I have no complaints about the hardware and with trying to figure out where my joists were they only took about 45 minutes a piece to install

Most any storage that’s purchased should have different hardware used for the actual mounting. I have never trusted hardware that comes with stuff like this. It’s cheap metal and bad quality. That’s how they continue to keep prices down.

But thank you for posting this to inform people.

Agreed, especially when it’s “mission critical” and it could fall on someone’s head. If it’s a set of junky lag bolts for a TV mount, they’re probably fine. I have a whole box of crappy drywall anchors and mounting screws that came with things. I also don’t know why I save the sketchy orange wire nuts that come with electrical devices - maybe they can be painful Nerf gun ammo, but I never, ever use them. Most of the time I just laugh when I find the crinkly plastic bag with “hardware.” It’s unfortunate, but it’s nothing new. Now, if the bolts that hold the actual product together fail, that’s pretty inexcusable.

Would this work as a garden bench, if I flipped it and added wide feet to distribute the weight, and keep it from sinking?
