Google Pixel 5

I purchased one of those for $120 to get $320 credit towards a Pixel 7 from Google.

That sounds like something @Froodyfrog would do.

Well, now that you mention it…

(Though I’m also taking advantage of referral codes which will eventually translate into $100 Google Store credit codes.)

If you have some wisdom to share about getting the best deal for a Pixel 5 to Pixel 7 upgrade, I’m all ears.

Do you already have a 5?

What is the model number for this? Is it GD1YQ?

Looks like it.

(Please note: I don’t work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)

I upgraded to this because att made me. It kinda sucks. Why is everybody upgrading their phones? What am I missing out on?

Why does this say that “it does not support 5G”?

Maybe because it doesn’t support 5G?

It may not have the right kind of radio or chipset in there for that.

Because there’s a separate model of the Pixel 5 that does. This is not it.

Supports 5G

I can’t find anything about a pixel 5 that doesn’t support 5g. What is the model number ThunderThighs?

You may wish to remove all references to it supporting 5G in the specs and pictures.

More likely, someone copied that disclaimer from a 4A that doesn’t support 5G.

As the others said, it was the 4a which had a separate model which had 5G support.

Starting with the Pixel 5, 5G support was a standard (for all models).

That’s what I thought FroodyFrog. 5G support is standard on Pixels starting with the 5. So why does the copy on the sale page say that this model specifically doesn’t?

Grumble…

@Mithrandir2020 - Do you want a crash course on each of the Pixel phones? :woman_facepalming:t2:

Asking. This is from Googles page on support:

  1. This is the 5, not 5a.
  2. Google was weird with the 5a naming, as they added that to let people know that 5a phones started to include 5G.

Yes, that’s correct.
