This thing is absolute garbage - and I’m working with the replacement the Greenworks sent me because the first one was trash.
The line breaks all the time and it’s bump feed, and the bump feed button is directly on the bottom, so you can’t advance the line when it’s in edger mode (when the line is most likely to break) because that moves the button to the side. It’s awkward to bump when the button is perpendicular to the ground.
Plan to spend half your time edging and the other half with it upside down, manually pulling the line (if you are lucky). If you hit a rock or something else hard the line will break down to the spool, so you have to take it apart to re-feed it and THEN manually pull the line.
Additionally, the mechanism that changes the tool from trimmer to edger is broken, so it no longer locks in place one the first try, you have to tinker with it every time you shift it to get it to lock in place.
A MAJOR HEADACHE - AVOID.
I just bought the B&D one listed on Woot as a replacement. Hopefully, that will work better.
If you only plan to use it as a trimmer, if work ok for that as long as you never come into contact with a tree, fence, concrete step or anything else harder than grass because the line will break. Ohhh and when you do bump it, plan on it taking a chunk of your lawn every time because it needs to be spinning when you bump it to advance the lane.
Just junk. I have the same weedeater and it does the same thing. Have to manually pull string if it doesn’t break off in spool.
