I bought that one on here, and I’m happy with it, being my first Chromebook, and all. Not a scratch or dent on it, looks and works like new!

You bought the Lenovo 300e from Woot, currently available?
How are 2 machines better?

2015 I bought Lenovo ThinkPad, not a touch-screen. 11e. ($199.00 I think) All has been fine, until a few months ago, was on powered, in bag. Overheated then. Warped from heat, so sounds like another Lenovo in order.
I have no professional duties for it.
90 days to check a different model. Refurb is okay, esp at Woot price.
Thanks

Meh… It would have been annoyingly underpowered, lacking in RAM, and an insufficient amount of storage three years ago. On the other hand, the series is relatively durable and it’ll receive OS/security updates for another 2½ years (assuming that specification is accurate). It was probably originally sold to a school district and issued to a student.

Is it a good deal? Sure, if the one you get hasn’t been mistreated, its battery is still in good condition, it functions until June, 2027 - and you merely want to browse the web (opening as few tabs as possible simultaneously), access your email, read, and stream video (a Bluetooth speaker and either excellent or very poor vision would be helpful).

Either excellent or very poor vision would be helpful?

I actually got the Lenovo 300e touchscreen when it was 39.99. I can’t compare it to any other chromebook, as this is my first. I’ve owned a Dell Laptop for a long time, and wanted something smaller and basic, and this works great! Im not doing any major work on it, it’s mostly for fun, or small projects, watching different streaming videos, and I play some online games. I also video chat with different friends and family with it too! It’s been a nice, handy, and useful machine!

Display is too small, requiring excellent vision for anything even vaguely approaching a normal computing experience. On the other hand, it’s also too poor in quality… so the user might be better off (in this very narrow definition of the term) to have very poor vision; mine is 20/120 in my better eye, and that’s still good enough to see how bad it is. Maybe a mole would find it to be acceptable.

I did not catch on to using this device. Returned for refund. No problem with customer service. Great, as usual.
HAPPY WOOTING

Did you end up purchasing this HP over a Lenovo?

I returned this Lenovo as it was a chrome book format.
I liked the Lenovo I HAD SINCE 2015 (Bought on woot). It had windows 10 updated. I didn’t realize power on, in my bag, and battery overheated. It killed battery, but most of it works with power cord.
Looking to replace it with something.

Laptop batteries are cheap, as long as one is wise enough to not buy an OEM-branded one, just as they don’t buy Ford batteries for their F-250. It’s even cheaper to replace the individual cells in the things, but that’s not really an option if there is damage in addition to the degraded cells. Plus, i have heard that some “intelligent” laptop batteries will set an internal flag when they’re pooched that will cause the laptop to not supply electricity to charge it.

If you do replace the battery in your laptop, consider swapping its magnetic hard drive (if applicable) for an inexpensive SSD. Generally speaking, they use less electricity - and increase the speed of drive I/O activity enough to improve the user experience. And also consider installing a linux operating system, at least when Microsoft’s Windows 10 OS ends support.
