Updates through June 2029, which is medicore (it’s one more year of updates). Great! Woot should be listing this and not making people find it themselves on Google’s Website
1080p screen, which is great for a Chromebook.
Woot Staff: The End Of Life date should be at the top of the specs; it’s the single most important spec when buying a Chromebook/box ESPECIALLY considering Chrome based devices have a limited update lifetime.
Wait, did you say 2029?
That’s almost 8 years of useful life.
I actually believe in “caveat emptor.”
The buyer should always do research on what they buy. It should not be expected to be given to them.
But then again, I’m from Virginia. This is a way of life here.
In defense of the OP, woot has sold chrome books that were very near their Google end-of-life cycle in the past.
I haven’t been tracking and keeping records or anything so I can’t go pick out the past short-life sales.
Considering the offers I I’ve seen today, they have been pretty decent.
I mean 5 to 8 years lifespan? That’s pretty darn good at these prices in my book.
I’m annoyed at Google pretty much all the time lately but the seamless integration with Google docs and such do make Chrome books a viable, cheap computer that will get the job done for school or work.
As long as you have internet. You can do some stuff “off line” but they really shine once one figures out how they work.
Gaming? Maybe not so much.
I need to quit looking at these. I’m afraid one might end up in my shopping cart if I keep this up.
Edited my original comment and thanks.
This wouldn’t happen if Woot took the time to put the EoL date in the specs (at all - not even at the top this time) instead of making people look it up themselves.
You’re correct in that most of the crap Chrome devices Woot attempts to sell are within several months of their EoL date (if not already past it).
It’s surprising to see them selling something that doesn’t go EoL next month (or already is).
I’ve updated my original comment to reflect this - it wouldn’t be an issue if Woot wasn’t so lazy and actually put the EoL date in (at the top of) the specs and didn’t make people go look it up themselves.
Thank you for your service.
