Got one of these the last time it was for sale here on woot. And like last time theydidn’t sell this rig with the other HP gaming machines. This rig is really fast, the SSD is a sandisk, the gtx 960 is a custom hp card, and the computer looks and acts brand new.
Can’t build a skylake system with these specs for this price. Hoping I’ll be able to figure out a way to upgrade the video card - not a lot of space to work with in that HP plopped the motherboard in there upside down.
EDIT - just received it today, 4 days later (Wow, fast woot!) Also to note, the audio is labeled as Bang & Olufsen 5.1 Channel, something that was missing from the specs. I have not tested the unit yet.
Seems like a good deal. Too bad it sold out. I would have liked one ![]()
Can someone answer this question? The specs say the unit comes with 16 GB of DDR4 SDRAM and has a max capacity of 64 GB. The unit has 4 slots… How many slots are mounted with the 16 GB and how many slots are available. I.e. does the unit have 2 X 8 GB DDR4 or 4 x 4 GB DDR4 using all 4 of the slots?

On a factory reconditioned model, it can vary from unit to unit.
It’s a 2x8gb used in this case. Meaning I have 2 more slots free, but since the unit can potentially use up to 64gb, I’d probably be more likely to replace the current small cards than add to them when the time comes. But for right now 16gb is plenty for my needs.
One more, and final comment here unless there are more questions:
Windows 10 does not play nice with NVIDIA drivers. What happens is the computer will function from anywhere between 5 minutes and 5 hours, and randomly freeze the screen, mouse and keyboard inputs are ignored, causing you to have to give it a hard restart. The GEForce and Microsoft forums are filled with these complaints.
I’ve tried many things to fix this on my own including rolling back the driver, to no avail. The latest test was to set the Link State Power Management to OFF. [Didn’t work]
Yup…exactly what I am getting. Can’t find a fix for it ![]()

Just found this thread again. Hope you’re not still having troubles. Mine seems to have been fixed by a complete re-install of windows 10. Not right away, mind you, but after 92 updates that came along several days later after the re-install.
