Note that this printer requires that it is connected to the internet at all times to work and only accepts ink sold by HP. You must pay for the overpriced HP toner. It will block you from using 3rd party cartridges.
There are several ongoing lawsuits around HP’s business practices in this regard:
I had a Canon laser printer that constantly gave a warning about a non-Canon cartridge and wouldn’t print unless you cleared the message. They let me clear it but I suspected that at some point it would be a hard stop, so out it went. My current two Brother laser printers don’t give me any trouble.
They created the secondary market with their outrageous prices for toner cartridges. It’s all headed to an economy where you actually own nothing and continuously pay to use things you already purchased. The rent seeking economy is upon us.
