The advertisement clearly shows this model includes “NVIDIA 2x Quadro P5000” - that’s a good deal. When I paid, the confirmation showed “P500” instead of “P5000”. Here’s the difference.
NVIDIA Quadro P500
- Type: Mobile GPU (laptop-grade)
- Specs: 2GB GDDR5, 256 CUDA cores, ~1.0 TFLOPS, 30W TDP
- Form Factor: MXM module or soldered (not PCIe)
- Compatibility: Can’t install in Z6 G4’s PCIe x16 slots—no native support, would require impractical adapter
- Fit: Not applicable to Z6 G4
NVIDIA Quadro P5000
- Type: Desktop GPU (workstation-grade)
- Specs: 16GB GDDR5X, 2560 CUDA cores, ~8.9 TFLOPS, 180W TDP
- Form Factor: PCIe x16 card (10.5” long, dual-slot)
- Compatibility: Perfect for Z6 G4—dual P5000s use 2x PCIe x16, 925W PSU supports 360W total
I’ve verified that the HP Z6 G4’s two PCIe x16 slots are adequately spaced to accommodate two dual-slot NVIDIA Quadro P5000 GPUs.
Specs lists “Graphics: NVIDIA 2x Quadro P5000”
This deal seems awesome.
