Not sure, but these usually require a plug, i.e. it needs an electric socket to work.
If it ran on batteries, I think marketing would scream about it.
So before you buy it, ask.

I got mine and it’s telling me it’s for indoor use only and may not be used outdoors or in barns, stables, sheds, or in similar places.

Actually, I am not going to return it. I bought It with the intention of using it when we were outside, but I’m going to put it in my garage. That way when my husband leaves it open forever and all the house flies and other bugs fly inside, they’ll get zapped before they come in the house… hopefully. Thank you!
