If you have an instant pot, do you need a rice cooker?
FYI: Current thinking is that it is not a good idea to store cooked rice for more than a a day or one re-heat., so 20 cup capacity may encourage making too much!
Our 2 person household bought a cooker here that takes 3/4 cup of rice or grain and ends up with 1 1/2 cups of cooked product. Works great and was $19.95.
What about a six person family that consumes rice throughout the day, or a small restaurant that serves rice with only a few things?
While you’re right about buying the right size for your application, you gotta think about other circumstances.
Can this be used to make just 3 cups (measured before cooking) of rice at a time?
Yeah I have a larger one (probably 12 cups) and i usually only make like a cup and a half
Cook as little or much rice as you want as long as you have measured out the proper rice to water ratio as these automatically know when the rice is cooked and automatically go into warm mode
No. An instant pot makes excellent rice.
If you’ve used your instant pot for another recipe, like in my case gumbo or country gravy, and you’re using it for serving like at a potluck, having a second device is handy to make rice onsite. I do that several times a year at work for potlucks.
For those who dont know 20 cups is way too much rice for 2-3 pepole we have a six cup and thats more than enough at 6 cups
Carbs and sugars separate from the rice, which is made of carbs that our bodies turn into sugar.

Sounds like you just need two instant pots ![]()
We have a twelve from zojirushi, but it can steam and slow cook and some other stuff that I don’t use, so the larger size is pretty useful. We usually make two cups at a time though for rice, which feeds the two of us, and then leftover rice we can either reheat or make fried rice with after ![]()

Someone would murder me. Already have those two mentioned, the Jason Wu rice cooker from Woot (which is kinda awesome), 2 air fryers courtesy of Woot, plus 2 crock pots… ![]()
