Is a hot dog a sandwich?
My sandwich better consist of two separate slices from a loaf of bread and not a bun which is too small to be considered a submarine roll

A hotdog served on a bun is a hotdog. A hotdog served alone is a hotdog. Keep it simple, keep it real…

Sometimes

Nope. Last I checked, they’re mostly just lips and anuses!

Now this is a hot dog sandwich. ![]()
Technically, yes a hot dog is a sandwich. It is “meat” housed in bread.

The sausage itself? No. In a bun with condiments? Yes.
Goose in the sky… a goose in the oven… it’s a goose. A hotdog in the sky, driving down the road, in a bun with condiments, in a box with green eggs, or alone is a hotdog.

It’s a no from me as well.
My friend Jeff used to tell his little kids it was “tube steak”.

A hot dog? No. Put it in a bun and top with mustard, relish and onion, yes. Top it with chili, yes. Put mayo on a hot dog and you should check yourself in at your local psychiatric care facility
Hell Yeah…!!!
Bread, meat (supposedly), and condiments. At worst it is a folded over open faced sandwich, but still a sandwich…

It brings up so many other questions.
Is it hotdog or hot dog?
Is it just a weiner until you put it in a bun?
What would butchers do with cow lips if nobody had invented the weiner?
