Reviews from Costco

Does anybody have direct experience with one of these? Are they easy to clean and to keep clean? Do they hold up for a few months or less, or do they work for a decade if kept clean?

This has pretty exceptional reviews at Amazon (4.5 stars)

Also, one of my favorite sources SeattleCoffeeGear raves about other Jura products and most have 4-5 star reviews overall. Check out the Jura stuff here.

So on the surface, this seems like a pretty good deal, even when the steep price (typical for a super automatic though), unless you want a milk froth feature (which this one does not have)

Do you honestly think anything this complicated would be easy to keep clean? How hard is your water?

Seven hundred bucks can buy you a whole heck of a lot of espresso shots at Starbucks…I am just saying.

When I worked at Sur La Table I had to take apart and clean these machines every day, not that hard. And they have a water filtration system and when you have to do a descaling, it walks you through it.

We have an older model - the E8 which we bought on Craig’s List for $400 three years ago. We love it.

Maintenance involves two kinds of tablets (cleaning and descaling) which we buy on Amazon and run through the machine when it tells us to.

It needs filtered water but we don’t use the Jura filters that fit in the machine, we just have a PUR filter pitcher to fill it and change the filter when the machine says it is time.

We used to use a drip machine and go out for espresso. We were always throwing out the last bit in the pot and spending $3+ per cup added up. This thing is wonderful. It’s also good for tea and steaming chai and parties.

Take good care of it and it will last. The quality of Jura/Capresso is excellent.

Does Star_ucks come to your house and custom brew for you and your party? Conversely, does this Jura condescend and judge you based on your order preference and lack of a Star_ucks member card? I will avoid Star_ucks at any cost, thank you very much.

I’ve owned a refurbished Jura Capresso C3000 super automatic that I bought for $800, almost 11 years now. In that time I had to send it in once to get fixed, which was a flat $200.

I can’t recommend Jura enough. I use this machine minimum 4-5 times a day. My Starbucks consumption has plummeted to say the least. I can’t even imagine how much money I’ve saved over the 11 years I’ve owned this machine by not going to Starbucks. Maybe 52 weeks X 5 Days X 11 Years = 2860 Days X $5 (at least) a day = $14,300. Minus the cost of beans and milk to make drinks at home of course.

This is one of those purchases that you never regret.

I’m not saying I would buy this model, I think having a steamer is a good option to have. Unless you only drink straight shots, then maybe this model is ideal for you.

I too am a happy long-term owner of Jura Ena 5 machine and over the course of 7+ years I had no problems with it whatsoever. It’s been dispensing espresso 4-6 cups per day on a daily basis, and with scheduled cleaning and descaling, it’s been fantastic. Definitely worth it.
P.S. If you don’t mind a refurb, Micro 5 is $499 at 1stincoffee.com: http://bit.ly/1RXTO6i

Costco sells the exact unit for $1000. I have Saeco Gran Baristo and don’t think I could ever go back to regular drip coffeemaker.

I own the 9 version, which is basically the same thing but it has a milk frother. Owned it for about a year now.

The milk frother is actually the hardest part to clean by far, and I rarely use it. You do have to buy cleaning tablets and water filters from Jura, but it’s still way less expensive – and the espresso is far better – than what you’d get from a pod system. Nothing beats fresh ground coffee beans.

I’ve owned a similar model (Jura Micro Ena) for 3 years. I can’t recommend this item enough. It makes fantastic coffee and has been completely trouble free the entire time. I just follow the prompts when it asks for a cleaning cycle or to have it’s filter changed. Easy-peasy. Previously I owned a Saeco and it broke down once a year, costing $150 to get repaired each time.

I just bought this! I’ve bought literally hundreds of things from Woot! This is the most expensive thing yet!
I bought it based on a recent trip to Scottsdale last weekend when I accidently ran into a demonstration of this machine at a Le Creuset store at Kierland shopping center. It was exceptionally good espresso! And, now with the comments I’m seeing from fellow Wooters I just made the decision.
It’s serendipity man!

Maybe you guys should read the history of coffee before spreading misinformation. America did not introduce Europe to coffee! Ever heard of Turkey?
