I bought one of these last time. It is an awesome knife. I carry a Benchmade that is 10x the cost. Still love my Benchmade but have a ton of respect for the Kershaw Ken Onion after it arrived and I got to hold it first hand. You will not be disappointed.

This is great knife. I bought it on Ebay for $31.95 plus $3.25 shipping (cheaper than Woot $34.99 plus $5 shipping)

I bought this knife last time, it’s a great piece, looks great, fits great, amazingly sharp, razor sharp, and made in the USA.

I have a couple black leeks bought on Amazon for less than $30. I wonder if the Sanvik steel in these make these a bargain somehow.

Anyone have an idea whether the change in steel makes a real difference? I never had any issue with the ones I have now.

I would LOVE to get one, but Woot still insists that they won’t ship knives to basically ANYWHERE in New York State. None of the blades sold on Woot are illegal where I am (14606 zip code), Amazon ships blades here, I’ve had Kershaw and CRKT directly ship blades to me. Why, Woot, WHY do you apply the “NYC=NYS” law here? We’re so much more than that!

Anyone know if this has the Blackwash finish? It says so in the description but the pictures don’t seem to show it.

It’s the wrong model number 1550 is black wash number I belive this is regular black pad unless the number is wrong…

No matter what they say, they ship knives to me in NYC regularly.

Have you actually been rejected after trying to order it?

I’ve had a Leek in my pocket every day for a few years now. (Bought at Wal-Mart for $40+) It’s light and not-large enough to carry without noticing it (much). It’s my favorite tool.

Not only is it ridiculously sharp, but you have the choice to open it with a thumb stud like most knives, or give a quick press on the tiny lever to flip it open with a satisfying “snick.”

“Speed safe” means 2 things: not only does it flick open quickly/easily, but it also requires a press on the back side of the blade to fully close it, so you’re less likely to hurt yourself closing with one hand. (Did I mention it’s crazy sharp?)

I use mine to open everything from potato chip bags to boxes from Woot! to those welded-shut plastic packages.

I have the smooth blade, but recommend the half-serrated: it cuts rope and the like more easily.

If you wear size Medium (or ladies size large) or smaller glove, you should find it a perfect size to fit your hand.

After a couple of years of using it at least twice a day, I had to put a drop of oil on the hinge; it’s still basically perfect.

A knife with cosmetic flaws that doesn’t meet Kershaw’s quality standards should be cheaper than one that passes inspection, don’t ya think?

I got both blade styles last time around for myself and the regular blade for my son. They immediately became our favorite knives. I’ve gotten every decent knife that woot has put out in the last 5 years and next to the Kershaw Blur (Red) that they offered in Tanto style last year, this is definitely the next best thing. Small, razor sharp, and the SpeedSafe on this particular model is blazingly fast.

There were discussions last time about the lock element - it’s metal on the ones from a month ago, but others mentioned it was polymer - definitely not on the ones we got.

As far as texture goes, it seems almost like a semi-slip surface, but not too grippy. The colors shown in the 3rd and 5th photos (from the top down) are what it looks like (to me) in most light.

It’s about 75% as thick as other knives I’ve gotten off woot of the same general price and quality. The thin style of blade and case make this really nice clipped in your pocket.

I’d suggest you buy several and sell them to your knife carrying friends - they won’t be disappointed - and you can split the shipping. :^)

I have two and they are excellent EDC knives. I also gave one two my son-in-law when he was flying around in an F-18 in Iraq. Others in his unit saw it and most sent home for one to keep on them too.

I have two if these and the blade is great for the price. Super sharp and will be sure to slice through flesh like it’s butter!! Be careful of the the tip of the blade because it is really thin.

Amazon shows the Blackwash version as 1660BLKW. The finish in the picture on Amazon for the BlackWash model appears to be different than the knife offered here, so there is a screwup somewhere.

I own both of these knifes, the Serrated is by for the best for me as it does cut alot more stuff, on the flipside, both of these just sit on my bench as I found them to be small, so I got the next size up and carry that every day in my pocket… last Nov coming across the boarder back from Mexico I had a board agent freak out on me, basicly yelling stand still I am reaching for your knife do not move, he reaches over and pulls out my leatherman from my leather holder, never even notices this giant clip on my knife… so I had to laugh yeah I’m gonna stab him with my needle nose pliers on my leatherman, or may the cork screw ha !!! if your hand size is Med or up you prop want the 1840 as it’s much better for cutting actual stuff out camping etc… I will say like the other guy posted, these are RAZOR blade sharp, I also suggest getting a spyderco tri-angle sharpener it really keeps these sharp !!!
