Maybe a dumb question, but if it’s a 2021 release, is the battery in it a 2021 battery?
Yes it’s for the bathtub because that’s where I do most of my reading. I have bubble bath and a candle and everything. I remember the days I needed a ziploc bag. Isn’t technology wonderful?

Not necessarily a battery that old - This follows the general model of many tech companies, like Apple; We simply refer to the last time that the physical design, ports, and general OS minimum have been updated.
But in the same vein, this is listed as refurbished, so who knows when it was purchased, or how it was treated.
On the positive side, this version is finally free of the archaic MicroUSB, and it has the much more even front-lighting, plus the ability to shift the temperature of the light. I have one of these that I bought last year, which is going strong - It’s fantastic. So, hopefully yours will be too 
… And for the record, my previous gen paperwhite is still in my family, also a refurb, and it’s doing well too.
I’ve got the same addiction, but at least it’s not killing me!
