Kindle Paperwhite 3G (2013) 6" E-Reader

Five-year-old model, eh? Any opinions on whether or not this is a good deal?

TERRIBLE DEAL! Let me sell you a hand crank to start a 1905 Ford Model A lol. Buy a modern refurb fire tablet for about the same price.

Yes for a Kindle Paperwhite with 3G!

I mean, I don’t want a Fire and its comparably shorter battery life. Outside of that comparison, is this a good deal? A new paperwhite is, what, $120?

Waiting for the possible return of the Kindle Manga edition, that was a steal.

The current new Kindle Paperwhite with Wi-Fi, free cellular connection and with special offers (ads on the lock screen) sells for $189.99. The certified refurbished version is currently unavailable on Amazon (Wi-Fi only without cellular is $99.99). These have been in production for a long time and because it’s a simple device it doesn’t require frequent updating or model changes in order to renew its appeal.

Therefore, to answer your question: YES, if this is what you are looking for it is a good deal.

You reiterated everything I was already thinking, and helped me rationalize this, lol. Bought.

And apparently you got the last one!

Anyone else having trouble getting this connected to your Amazon account?
It has ancient firmware so I had hoped updating that would get it there. Nope. Now I’ve been on the phone and in chat for 3 hours with amazon trying to figure it out.
If I get any resolution, I’ll update here.

UPDATE: “It’s simply a fulfillment issue it will not happen again” when asked why. So, update your kindle manually with a computer (here’s the firmware: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201307450), then call and they’ll connect it to your account because, evidently, you are not to be trusted to do that on your own. For the $50 difference, I’d rather have 2 hours on vacation back.

Thank you! After spending an hour on the phone with Amazon (they told me to return the Kindle to the merchant as they could not get it to register), I checked here to see if anyone else had the same problem. I did the software update, but did not call them back – I was able to register it myself.
