In this case, I hope refurb doesn’t mean used… Mold-tastic!

Model B95

Speaking of beer, whens the next woot happy hour, i miss it :frowning:

Is that DraughtKeg thing available with European versions of the beer? I always liked the Euro Heinekens better. Newkie Brown is definitly a plus.

Any liklihood of other brews getting added?

Where can one obtain the Newcastle logos for the spout?

Do these only work on those tiny beer case kegs? Either way, this should have been on a Tuesday, so you could have one for domestics and one for imports.

These retail for over $300, so this appears to be a great deal! But, would I really even use it much? That is the question

Here is the comparison chart between the features of B90 and B95.

There are currently three mini-keg “standards” in the wild. While this Krups BeerTender is a great deal, it only handles proprietary DraughtKeg mini-kegs (aka Heineken). The other two standards are the widespread 5-liter mini-keg and InBev’s nascent PerfectDraft 6-liter mini-keg system (PerfectDraft available in Germany now). There are universal beverage dispensers but they’ll cost you more. If you’re in love with Heineken, then jump in and enjoy a cold one whenever.

Oh, be aware that thermoelectric coolers are electric energy hogs.

To answer my own post, I found this:

(Available) "In the Netherlands:
Affligem abbey beer
Amstel (Amstel pilsener, Amstel 1870)
Brand (Brand pilsener, Brand Urtyp)
Heineken (Heineken Pilsener)
Murphy’s Irish Red
Wieckse Witte

In Austria
Gösser beer
Heineken (Heineken Pilsener)
Zipfer beer
Puntigamer

In Switzerland
Heineken (Heineken Pilsener)
Calanda (Calanda Lager)
Gösser beer"

Sadly, no guarantee of finding these anywhere in the US specifically, though they might be available by special order. Some decent beer there…

Don’t buy this unless you only drink Heineken and Newcastle. This only works with their proprietary mini-kegs that contain an internal co2 contraption. Buy one that you can use ANY 5L mini with, i.e. one where you can supply your own co2 via a 12 or 16 gram cartridge (those usually come with a Heineken style keg adapter anyway, if Heine’s really your thing). There are tons of breweries that use standard minis (mostly German and Canadian, but also craft brewers like Bells), and are great for homebrew too. Just steer clear of this!

this is my first posting… I’ll make sure to print this out and put it on my fridge. (hint hint, i need a new laser printer woot).

Anyhow, will this contraption make the beer last any longer? or is this just a fancy decoration for your counter top that saves room in the fridge?

Also, anyone know how much those beer kegs go for?

Thanks for making my first time special.

As much as I love beer, I can’t see myself buying a special gadget that only works with two brands. I’m not saying Heineken is a bad beer but does anybody really like it THIS much?

I’m also seeing some bad-stuff in the linked reviews, including complaints about foam and warnings to pre-chill the keg, as one Amazon reviewer put it: “the system is also not able to maintain the desired temperature and if the mini-keg is not completely cooled in advance it takes days to cool to a temperature that is even drinkable”

Thanks for the informative posts, guys. I’ve been very casually looking at 5-liter keg dispensers lately, for use with the mini-kegs of Spatan that they sell at the grocery store near me. I almost grabbed this on impulse because it’s such a good price, but now I’m glad I read the comments before buying something that doesn’t work with standard 5-liter kegs. I do like Heineken, but not so much that I’d want to start drinking it exclusively.

Found some cool images of it:

Also, those mini kegs hold 20 - 8 oz. glasses according to the site.

Looks like the Hiney kegs have intentionally been engineered to be one-time-use devices. Most homebrewers agree there isn’t much opportunity to refill and reuse these kegs.

Shame, I’d buy a gob of draught kegs and make this my primary distribution system.

I find the savings here too good to be true. $275 on Amazon, $60 here. I wonder if they couldn’t get other brands on board and the Heinie market for these things is saturated?
