I used to always buy Lasko heaters, but over the last 3 - 4 years I’ve found that their quality has gone totally to hell. Every Lasko heater I bought in that timeframe ended up failing in one of two ways:
- Something inside it shorted out, causing it to draw more than 1,500watts and melt the plug.
- The overheat sensor malfunctioned and it randomly powers itself off. It’s not actually overheating, sometimes it turns off after just a few seconds, nowhere near long enough to do so. Technically these are still usable, but only in the same room with you while you’re awake so you can turn it back on as needed.
These problems occurred on three different Lasko heater models, so it’s not just due to one model having quality control issues.
Even at this discounted price I’d avoid buying this. There are much better options out there now.
Amazon shipped it inside a huge box with a 6 ft piece of paper and the Woot receipt. Yes, yes the tape was busted and it slid around in that box, like, a lot.
Inner box was fine. They should have put the label on that and shipped it. I get so tired of having to deal with all the packaging waste.
Anyway, turned it on and it ran for a minute then shut itself off. No response after that. Unplugged it for an hour while I went out to eat, came back and plugged it in. It’s been fine ever since.
I’m guessing it was just mad about all the shakin’.
