Lodge 12" Cast Iron WOOT Skillet

Hey, it’s not really your anniversary… is it?

ETA: Wow! It’s been a year already! Happy wootiversary!

Also, have this pan, love this pan, you should buy this pan.

LOVE!!!

CANNOT BUY!!!

/cry

Nice! I’ve been waiting for this. Too bad I’m broke!

OMFG YAY!

Man, if I didn’t already have 2 of these, and 2 more 12 inch Lodge 12 inch regular depth skillets, I’d be all over my 6th or 7th 12 inch frying pan.

Since they’re Lodge, your grandkids can use them.

Wow! “Quality Post!”

steve

I bought this a few months ago, and it was put in a large flat cardboard box with no padding or packing material. The box arrived looking like it had been through the wars, and the handle had broken off the pan and disappeared through one of the many holes in the box. Several other people had the same experience. AMZ does not know how to pack/ship these properly, so it’s a gamble whether yours will arrive in one piece.

That being said, Lodge is awesome for cooking, and American-made.

Can you turn it upside down to make woot logo pancakes?

Lot of people had complaints with the shipping, the pan arriving chipped/broken, or not having the Woot! logo.

Mine was chipped a bit, but I didn’t care. I use it all the time

I’ve been waiting for one of these for a while!

Happy Anniversary Home.Woot!

And here’s the link to the multi-page discussion of all the frack-ups that happened last time, as well as lots of info on seasoning, cleaning, etc.

is this seasoning kosher?

Bought three of these in April when they debuted. Two were given as gifts and were well received. The third has a place among my cast iron collection.

It is preseasoned and is breaking in nicely. I use it mostly on my smooth glass top electric stove, though it is just as effective in the oven or on the grill.

Lodge makes great stuff, but this isn’t a bargain price. If you want a bargain look elsewhere, as you are paying extra for the woot logo, which has been custom cast into the bottom of these pans. Yes, woot had Lodge make a custom run. And no, it won’t easily make woot logo pancakes - the logo is on the underside of the pan.

I keep meaning to try the “!” pancake idea.

I got this when it was first offered and it’s great. Yes, you’re paying a premium for the Woot logo – Amazon has a non-logoed version for $18.97.

$18.97 at Walmart…w/out the woot symbol of course

WOAH. WHAT ARE YOU NOT TELLING US, LESLIE? HMM?

FYI, they figured out the problem behind some people not getting logo pans so that shouldn’t be an issue this time.

Absolutely. I would do the initial heating right side up or in the oven.

Lodge cast iron skillets work fine on glass-topped ranges. Just don’t drop them or slide them around.

You can get this pan sans exclamation point for $15-$20 less, but many consider it worth the price. And a Boy Scout logo on the bottom costs more than this.

Lodge has a factory outlet store at the foundry in Tennessee. The selection of seconds isn’t what it once was, since they have opened other outlets in tourist towns, but I always stop when driving by.

If you stop at a Tennessee welcome center you can sometimes find a coupon for a smaller skillet than this one for something like five bucks.

Happy Anniversary! About Leslie and Brant, though…did the writers get a little same-sex-worried after the opening paragraph or was there a medical procedure in there that I missed? What do you mean, who reads those things?

Leslie has always been female, it’s the “HIS” at the beginning that kind of freaked me out, especially because Brant was worried about Leslie and Raoul potentially being an item.

Then he figured that Raoul wouldn’t be into Leslie romantically for orientation reasons…
