“olive oil obtained directly from olives”. I guess that’s what makes this gourmet.
Or…

Is it just me or is all the Gourmet stuff wildly overpriced?
It’s about time somebody has the guts to say it!

This is a pretty good price for extra virgin from 100% Koroneiki olives from Greece. That’s what you should be doing a price comparison on. Filippio-Bero is ok, but unless you look at the back label you don’t even know where the olives come from. They source and blend olives from Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Tunisia, maybe more.
The term: “superior category olive oil obtained directly from olives and solely by mechanical means” is a requirement of the European Union regulation on marketing standards for olive oil. It’s the term required to describe extra virgin olive oil.
If they make olive oil by squashing olives, how do they make baby oil
We buy Zoe oil at AZ for $22 for 2 1 liter cans. I’ll pop the extra few $$ for the 3 liter can to see if this is really better. Besides, farmers in Greece are really hurting these days.
The company has an interesting history in the Mani, Greece and promotes organics.

Where I live on the East Coast (US), a liter of decent Greek olive oil from TJs $10w/tax. This Mani $13/liter, inc. shipping, no tax. Deal for me.
Woot: on these more expensive gourmet deals, it would be nice to receive a small discount if you buy more than one. Then I’d consider buying more.
Cold pressed in small print.
My only concern would be when this was produced. The price is pretty decent if this is oil from the last harvest, otherwise, it’s just OK. It’s about what I would pay for California olive oil.
And this didn’t get a quality post? Hey!, you got one from me.
Ummm…if you were paying attention you would notice it’s the only quality post…
I guess you both missed the big olive oil expose. Check Google - I’m not kidding. Most of what’s sold in Americam supermarkets and big box stores as olive oil, isn’t. THIS is.
Apparently you are unaware that
Filippo-Berio was one of the companies busted in the olive oil “scandal”. See: http://www.organicauthority.com/foodie-buzz/whats-in-your-olive-oil.html
Remember hearing about that, didn’t recall the brands. Unfortunately not surprising.
