I have had one of these for over a year now and it is a pretty decent little speaker. It gets fairly loud for it’s size and has decent bass. It gets louder and has noticeably more low end than a Jawbone Mini Jambox for comparison (it’s also about twice the size and weight). However the downside is that the range is not great. If you are going to stay within 5~10 feet of it the whole time you should not have any issues, but even just going to the opposite side of my (very small) back yard with a absolutely clear line of sight it still loses signal.
So this has ended up being the speaker that I bring when I am going to be working or playing outdoors and there is a risk of loss… because it is cheap, water resistant, and loud, and if something ever happened to it… oh well, it was cheap.
I bought one of these a few years back and it still works pretty good. it has moments if and when you pass in between your device and the speaker but other then that it hasn’t done me wrong, bring it to work and it bumps all day, i have also left it outside and it still works! yahooo
I purchased the lower end one about a year ago. I recommend this for a couple people in a small area.
Pro: Battery has never let me down and plays for a long time.
Rugged device although I doubt it is water resistant.
Love the loop for a hook. Works well. Hook it to my beach umbrella.
Good sound for a small cheap speaker.
Easy to connect to phone.
No mechanical issues after a year.
Con:
The device gets loud enough for a small group, but, if you have a loud group there needs to be more volume.
Took it to the beach and wish it had a bit more volume. (worked well under a single beach umbrella but not much further).
The blue tooth range is not very good (5 feet seems to be about max)
I bought one of these 3 years back and loved it as a bathroom/shower bluetooth speaker. My only complaint, like everyone else, was the bluetooth range 2 meters tops.
HOWEVER, I still appreciated the sound and battery life. So,… as mine started to look dingy and old, I decided to get another one and repurpose my old one to my back yard. So, I ended up buying 2 more of these very recently (last 2 months), again from WOOT, and this time they are a little different. I can be 2 rooms away, or have doors shut in between and still have good BT connectivity and signal. these are different in that respect. I wouyld definitely tell you that the distance problem has been resolved. Just my two cents.
These are not the same Pyle Speakers from long ago.
