I bought two pairs of these at a wootoff last year. My wife tried hers and said no thanks. She liked her iphone 4s buds better. I think these sound worse than the iphone buds but for me are more comfortable. I gave the extra set to my son. Bass is very weak and when turned up everything sounds tinny. Both pairs still work but mine do not get used a lot.
I purchased these via woot and at first I was really pleasantly surprised. The sound was great and the microphone was working really well, but after a few months (maybe two), problems started appearing. Within 4 months, I the right ear bud was not playing anymore. So I contacted their costumer support, both be email and phone, and nothing. No one has ever contacted me back. I must say that woot were great and they sent me a new set immediately, but now, after reading all these reviews and seeing that I am not the only one who has these issues, I doubt that the new set would last much longer than the old one. I am going to try and get my money back.
If you can’t tell the difference between some crappy $2.99 earbuds and these then you probably need to have your hearing checked. After breaking them in properly per the manufacturer’s suggested break-in period at lower volumes, these have been great! They are way better than the $20 skull candy buds and ~$20 Sony buds that I’ve purchased in the past. Maybe the other reviewer that had issues with the bud tips was using the wrong size tips? I have found these buds to have better isolation than most…maybe my ear canal was just the right size
Been running strong since Sept 2012
I just read the manual that these headphones come with and i regret to have to inform you that the galaxy S2 is the only phone these headphones don’t work with which is weird because almost every phone HAS EXACTLY THE SAME AUDIO JACK… better luck next time!

I need to know the same thing… a little googling and some investigation into the XDA forums hasn’t revealed anything. Anyone know anything about this? I’m down for a pair if they’ll work with my Galaxy S2.

I bought two pair of these headphones back in September when they were offered here.
The Good: They did sound good for a short period of time, and the ability to change and pause songs with the cord control was great.
The Bad: By November, the first pair had one of the headphones short out, and the cord control stopped working completely. The second pair had one headphone short out after less than a month of use (in December).
The Ugly: Yes, these have a warranty. Good luck getting a response after you submit a ticket with them. I have two tickets open with Maximo (one opened in November, the other in December) to return my headphones for new pairs. I have updated the tickets multiple times asking for an update on both issues, but have not received any response on either ticket.
My advice would be to spend your money elsewhere on a better pair of headphones for a comparable price.
don’t buy! my pair, the left bud stopped working. I have put in multiple tickets, called (no answers) and even drive to the company (they had vacated) . I can not get them to respond or replaced

I bought the regular headphones of yesteryear and I love the sound on them. Maybe woot can bring those back sometime as I dont need the Mic and volume controls.
I even had to have one of the pairs replaced through their warranty service and I had no problems.

I am surprised that the fit was an issue since you have different sizes to choose from and the flexible rubber works pretty well for me. I first chose the biggest size and that kept falling out, but once I had found the right size, they worked great for me.

I’m telling you they don’t fit!
I also bought these the last time Woot sold them last year. I agree the sound is very good but I have not had any quality issues with them yet. I have not used them very much though. I think this is a great price for a set of buds that have the three button(Apple) remote. I have not tried it with an android phone. They are as comfortable as any other in ear buds.

there are rumors that they are going under. i’ve had my pair of maximos replaced four times. the last ticket i submitted went without a reply.
vvv see one post below
There are rumors that Maximo Products is being liquidated as they have filed for bankruptcy some time ago. Order these at your own risk. They will no longer honor lifetime warranty replacements.
I have owned a few pairs of the Maximos without the microphone. Like others, I really like the sound and feel of these, but I never had a pair last long enough for me to lose them. At the time Maximo was good and replaced them (twice I think) but eventually it becomes too big a hassle to keep returning. And now, hearing that Maximo is not answering calls, I would be very reluctant to buy these.
(dupe)
That’s a big shame. Many years of good sound from Maximo earbuds. I still have a few extra at home, now I’m tempted to get a few more to stock up.

stop paying so much for these damn headphones. this pair that costs 19.99 and a pair that cost 2.99 are identical in terms of sound quality. Any difference you perceive is placebo effect.
The only benefit these headphones have over a 2.99 pair is the mic/remote but is that worth $17? not to me.

Suggestion: Get a hearing exam.
There is a marked difference in clarity with my Maximos (from an old Woot) and the cheapies you suggest. And I edit audio for part of my living, so I do spend serious time listening.
How is the bass on these head phones?
[QUOTE=jjmcgaffey, post:7, topic:382332]
These are the usual work-only-with-igadgets controls, right? No Android function?
I’m still looking for a decent set…

From the Manufact. website:
http://www.maximoproducts.com/imetal/iP-595.php
“Made for iPod iPhone iPad.
iMetal enhanced definition earphones with remote and mic, designed for the latest iPod, iPhone and iPad”
So my guess is a big fat no. I guess the “i” in iMetal shoulda given it away.

Look- if you need bass, this is what you really want:

If you find you do not need the “2-ft Extension Cable” that comes with the earphones, you can use it as an adapter for iphones with the “bumper” case (or other cases with similar small earphone plug openings) for other earphones / audio out to stereo / etc.
I have one of these attached to my car tape-deck-to-earphone-plug that doesn’t fit the bumper case, as well as to our kitchen speaker system, which has one of those bulky green computer audio plugs.
Edit: I bought about 6 pairs over time of the Maximo iM-490 iMetal Isolation Earphones, and love their sound. That’s how I wound up with all the extensions.
We regret any previous lack of customer support, but Maximo is now under new ownership and we are addressing the support issues.
