This offering is BS. The Mother Ship is offering 5-lb bags of the same chocolate chips for $36.99 or 46,2¢/oz. Compare that to this deal of 2-lb bags for $14.99 or 46.8¢/oz. So much for the “pointless price” BS. The only advantage is that one gets smaller bags, me thinks. So if 5 -lbs is too much, well you’ve got a deal. To be fair, the 2-lb bag on the Mother Ship is listed (as of this moment on my web browser) at 69¢/oz. (The actual number is 60.9¢/oz as they cannot even do arithmetic in a competent and trustworthy manner viz., $21.99/32.
On the Woot! of yore, one could actually get bargains. Now? Not so much. One needs to do due diligence and check out each item before committing to the cart and checkout.
Amazon and it’s Woot! of today are not your friend. Their use of so called “pointless price” comparisons, while well and aptly named, illustrates the contemp they have for the Woot! customer base.
Perhaps I am wrong, the title should read, “Milk Chocolate flavored “, this product doesn’t contain cocoa butter.
Thanks for pointing that out. I see that this product substitutes other vegetable based oils for the cocoa butter. That in itself isn’t particularly alarming in my book.
These wafers are meant to be used in things like chocolate fountains where one would want the liquid to have certain properties in terms of viscosity and to be stable when turned off and then reheated day after day.
I have used them quite a bit in cut up form for Chocolate Chip cookies along with dark chocolate nibs. I use about a 1/3 milk chocolate wafers to 2/3 semi-sweet chocolate nibs. There they work just fine in providing more complex tasting cookie.
