Mystery Box of Electronics
Kind of Heartbroken… was my first mystery anything… :frowning:
mine too! and likely my last, from woot, unfortunately.

I value my anticipation and this thread at roughly $20 though, so it doesnt feel like a total bust

Hmmm…I just remembered that somewhere forgotten in a drawer around here I have a cheapo knock-off 6th gen iPod Nano with the proper connector on it (purchased from a Woot! competitor many years ago) to use with the bright but silent MusicLite. Experiment time!

I knew from the moment the first few boxes were being posted… I was not going to be happy, but I would get the value that was advertised. Boy, was I wrong.

My Box:

MusicLites ML-1

MusicLites APL-T (missing 3.5mm adapter which is the most useful, if it actually worked)

Griffin Technology GC30014 Helicopter TC Assault Touch-Controlled Helicopter (helo does not work)

Tempered Glass iPhone 5 Screen Protector (Have a Note 4, I would never own an iphone)

Turtle Beach EarForce Z11 gaming headset

So, to recap, the headphones are the only thing that does work. The Musiclites didnt have the adapter I could have used, but either way it doesn’t work at all. Just a lightbulb. The Helo will not power on, and I charged it for awhile. The screenprotector is for a phone I have never and will never own. If Woot doesn’t make this right, I will never purchase anything ever again. I may not have bought much over the years but this will be it. Unfortunately I have plenty of time to email and post on the internet, as my job gives me plenty of time to goof off. I will email Woot and Amazon until they file a protective order or do something.

TT- I understand you won’t respond to most every post, but don’t yall feel the least bit troubled that Woot essentially robbed so many customers? Will Woot address this failure? Is sending broken products to a customer ok?

I remember my first purchase in 2006, it seemed a good deal. Woot is not the same.

No update on shipping on my mystery box on fedex. Hasn’t been seen by man or machine since the 18th. hmmm… I guess it’s determined to remain a mystery box.

The last update for mine was on the 17th when it (in theory) left Miami. I’m just assuming it’s a very stealthy box.

some of this stuff would have been cool 2 to 3 years ago. I got the galaxy s 3 life proof, trugaurd for iphone 5, acesori pocketcast and the clip on ear bluetooth headsets. Honestly, really disappointed. all of this is useless to me. I gave the headsets to the neighbor kid. Will not do this again. The phillips headsets sound like gold compared to this box.

Alright people I’m going to have to chime in on this again. Yes, this has ended up being more of a headache than what Woot wanted. Woot took a gamble on this and it appears that it has failed. That being said while many of you on here have given the requested feedback ( good, bad, neutral); many of you are being flat out belligerent. Common sense should dictate that spending fifty bucks on a mystery purchase would mean there is a chance of it being a bust. Matter of fact, that is really the only way mystery purchases can even be remotely profitable. Most get somewhat average items, some get exceptional and some get sub par items. That’s right, sometimes in a mystery purchase you lose your money. Sorry to break it to you, but sometimes you take a gamble and lose. In this case it does seem like the number of low end or sub par quality items is higher than normal. Keep in mind, these products did not ship from Woot’s warehouses. This was a business venture that Woot did with another re-seller. I’m sure there have been some “very pleasant” phone calls between Woot and this vendor as a result of this. I for one only received one item out of the three that was purchased. Am I calling a staff member a liar or being belligerent in other regards? No. I submitted a request to see what can be done to resolve it and will go from there. People want to complain about the quality of Woot going downhill, I’d like to go on record as saying the quality of the customers of Woot have gone downhill. This wasn’t a $300 TV that everyone got that was defective. This was a mystery purchase that was just that, a mystery. I think both sides of the table can take away a valuable lesson from this. Woot is and has learned from this and I’m sure will make appropriate measures. People may expect “immediate” actions, but trying to right something of this size takes time and effort. Customers need to learn that not every “mystery” prize is going to be a “winner”. Sometimes you will LOSE money on a mystery purchase. I could go on but feel like I would be beating a dead horse. Thanks everyone and have a great day.

I feel this was just a load off of inventory from the vendor, that they cannot sell cause of it being outdated and lied to woot. I’m displeased, but not belligerent.
Mine arrived today:

-LiquidImage All-Sport HD Camera Goggles
-TruGuard screen protector
-some apple compatible cable
-Pink Nexus 7 travel cover

If I can sell the goggles for $50 online I will be happy to break even.

Put me down as a neutral
I got the same assortment. Also the same reation. Neutral.

I knew the risks, but there was no WOW factor. It was, as it were, woot-less.

ha! I would like to update my feelings to “wootless” …please add that as a column on your feedback TT lol

Just to be honest and give honest feedback, I will report what I recieved.

-LiquidImage All-Sport HD Camera Goggles
-TruGuard screen protector
-some apple compatible cable
-Pink Nexus 7 travel cover

The screen protector and cable were immediately snapped up by my daughter. The screen protector is installed and functioning, the cable will not work.

The pink Nexus 7 cover would be fine if I needed one. I wouldn’t spend more than $5 on something like that.

I was happy with the Goggles as a re-gift for someone that would think they are cool. That alone makes the value for the box.

But NOOOOO!! Not so fast there hot rod. The goggles are nonfunctional.

This puts me squarely in the pissed off column. As you can see from my username, I am no stranger to Woot. I would have to admit though that I lost interest in the Woot experience shortly after Amazon bought them. I don’t even look at the wootoffs anymore, and only look at the emails half the time. This is making me consider whether or not I will even waste the time checking the emails, or just send it straight to junk. Woot, we had some good years you and me, but I think the love affair has finally ended. I can never trust you like I once did, and that, makes me sad.

The mystery is trying to get this junk to even work. Hey, let’s pull all the old, broken, non-selling, defective products in a box for $50, call it a “mystery” and sell it to suckers over there @ WOOT. Oh yeah, make sure there are no refunds! It’s like a whole year worth of bag o crap.

Come on people. We all know no one got a 38lb mystery box. lol. Got mine. It’s ok. I might be able to find a couple of suckers to sell this stuff to and get my money back. Hey WOOT, wanna buy a sweet Z11 PC Gaming headset? How about a PUMP HD Sportbuds? (I actually might try these out in the pool!) and a Tru Guard Tempered Glass for iPhone 5? No, You don’t want any of this stuff? I’ll give ya a good deal. $54.26. That’s 5 dollars off!

Honestly flat out terrible what a scam some ten dollar headphones iPhone 5 screen protector a 10 dollar Bluetooth receiver and a sub ten dollar portable battery what a joke

this thread is great! some of you guys would benefit from some ganga tho lol…

I really think woot got hosed along with us. the only one winning is the third party. although, that doesnt mean i’m gonna buy another mystery box from woot. I’ve lost confidence in their ability to run these things.

My first mystery box. Probably my last. Mystery2 - Acesori Bluetooth headphones, acesori USB battery, iPhone 5 screen protector, bowflex heart rate monitor watch and some kids game that my daughter looked at for 5 seconds, shrugged, and went back to her Minecraft game. The only thing that might get a little use is the battery, which won’t help me much on my Note 2 since it needs a 2 amp charger. I don’t consider PC games to even be electronics. Oh well, lesson learned.

UPDATE: I just recalled that there was an old iphone 3gs in my junk room with a cracked screen. gave it a little charge and tried out the music lites which seems to work. so I guess I feel less woot-less… not quite woot-ful though…

I’ll probably never use this iphone, but I have discovered that I now have a remote control lamp! yay! lol

I received one of the last boxes out of Maine today. It was shipped in a box 2x bigger than it needed to be and with one small air bag, giving contents a good 6-8 inches in all dimensions to bang around in.

Mystery2 AceSori Special, in order of value:

AceSori bluetooth pink necklace/earbuds.

 • Opened and damaged box, but appeared new. Battery charged, and the set paired, but the left ear bud did not produce sound. Is there a way to get a working unit?.

AceSori PocketCast Bluetooth Receiver.

 • Opened and damaged box, but the device was intact. I have not tested it.

AceSori 2600mA hour PowerStick

 • Appeared new, unopened and shipped with the power on. The item charged up and delivered correct voltage. I don’t know if it has the touted capacity.

AceSori iPhone 5 screen protector

 • Appeared to be a new and unopened screen protector

The iFocus CD set.

 • A CD based computer game that is purported to be scientifically developed and tested to improve attention spans, focus and thinking abilities in 6-10 yr olds. The FTC brought and settled a case against the developer for not doing the scientific development and testing part. I don’t think this item has any use at all.

I would consider this box marginal for the lowest end of the “prizes” - IF only the headphones were functional.

I got the musiclites bulb and adapter.
Iphone 5 screen protector and cord
Helo tc assault

not bad. no head sets which is ok with me.

EDIT
Copter is DOA, powers up but no flight, top blades don’t spin, they kind of get kicked around by the lower set of blades. Which saddens the cats greatly. Off to test the light and then update.

After much tinkering the lightbulb works, pretty impressive too.
It took forever to sync but when I was about to give up “Carry on my Wayward Son” scared the poo out of my cats.

So about the Copter? What is the procedure on broken mysteries?

They really should have called this Mystery box of non-working batteries.

I got the remote chopper, battery wont charge.

also got the musiclights. the piece for the old iphone wont charge either.

not to mention only two things, although they are cool, i wish they would have worked.

WOOT needs to make this right. This is the most disappointing thing, because not working, that i have ever bough from WOOT.

Just because you are not happy with yours does not mean that you need to have attitude with someone because they got the good box…
