Mystery Laptop (Grade A Refurbished)

Mystery Laptop (Grade A Refurbished)

Has anyone does this? I’ve seen these over the years… Any example of what people are getting? Also any example of a 10%?

I would be wary of ‘mystery’ boxes from any site that has as much garbage for sale as this site. They’re just trying to offload all the junk no one wanted.
Ive been watching the stuff that passes for deals here and im not impressed. Alot of it has been quite comically Overpriced as in you could get the same thing new for less money. But I just look at the electronics and gadgets stuff.

If you search the forums for “mystery laptop” it’ll bring up the previous listings. Reviews are mixed, but remember you’ll have a 30-day return period.

(Please Note: I’m not employed by Woot, but I volunteer to help in the forums.)

Here you go – 2 pages of laptops from Newegg that would fall into this category, except cheaper. Buy what you actually want, and not take a gamble (and you don’t have to buy from Newegg – this is just a reference to show what’s available for these prices with these specs).

I’ve seen bad mystery deals before. $280 is pretty cheap and for guaranteed at least an i5 10th gen and at least 8GB RAM plus expandability. Sure the SSD is small, but it would get you by for now and they’re getting cheaper daily whenever it comes time to upgrade.

This is the best myster laptop listing I’ve seen yet.

At least these all have Windows 11.

The last one I recall seeing had a chance of getting one that didn’t support 11, and it seemed overpriced given that possibility.

I commented on the Grade B one but it looks like I should have commented here like you did. I’m glad you asked this.

And not just Windows 11 HOME as most refurbs are, but full Win-11 PRO. If you have not made the switch from 10 to 11 yet, this is a good way to do more than a sample. I would jump on this deal but I can’t deal with the small screen size - 1 need at least a 15.6" screen due to my aging eyesight. And only 10% of the units here have that.

2020? I bought a mystery laptop. It was great, I honestly dont remember the details on it. But it was a pretty decent deal I thought. Then right at 30 days i closed it for the first time and when you open it the screen was wigging out, so I restarted it and it was fine. You just cant close it and expect it to work till a restart. I went ahead and did the mystery thing again this year, but for a mini desktop. It was garbage. Wouldn’t turn on and didn’t even have an SSD card in it. From a lot of the comments I think I just got lucky the first time. I’m always so tempted though.

I got a mystery deal on a desktop. Due to a family situation, we didn’t get to plug it up until after 30 days so we were SOL when we set it up and it wouldn’t even turn on. My fault bc they clearly state the return period but if you do it, make sure you have the time and space to deal with possible issues

Hi there. Not seeing the purchase on the account you’re posting from. Along with the 30-day return period, these came with a 90-day woot warranty. Make sure you reach out to customer service from the account that made the purchase.

Ok, the worst-case scenario:

  • Model: Dell Latitude 3310 or Lenovo ThinkPad E-series (entry-level)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 10th Gen
  • Display: 13.1" 1366x768 HD (lower resolution, basic display)
  • RAM: 8GB DDR4-2400
  • Storage: 256GB SSD
  • Other: Basic Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, HD Webcam, and Windows 11 Pro

These laptops would have solid performance for everyday tasks but would struggle with intensive applications like gaming, video editing, or multitasking with heavy software. The display resolution and basic storage would limit the overall user experience.

Let’s start this out by reminding everyone, I do not work for Woot. I don’t get preferential treatment. I’m a regular customer like everyone else. I help out on the forums, sometimes I pour gas onto the flames, but I don’t work here.

So I’m pleased with the laptop. I’ve only had it an hour, and I’ve been on a different laptop all day and don’t feel like messing with this one much, so we’ll see how this ages. It’s clean, a couple scratches on the bottom and a scuff or two on the edge of the lid. The volume, display, touchpad, powercord, etc are all in excellent working order.

The Woot Oops… well it’s Windows 10 pro. Not Windows 11 pro. I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Turned it on, Dell emblem and nothing else.

Shame on me for taking a chance and having a laptop waste a lot of your time.

Will return it.
