(Not really)
I’m OK with the mystery, but I really can’t leave the keyboard up to chance, so I’ll pass.
Very tricky move, Woot… asking customers to gamble instead of pricing out laptops according to specs. It’s a way of selling the less desirable laptops to the unlucky buyers/gamblers. Will the less desirables be shipped out first? Will I get the i7, HD screen, 16RAM, Windows 11-ready laptop if I know somebody working in Woot?
I’m cool with everything but the “most will support Windows 11.” So I guess I’ll pass too.
Others have said it here in other threads, but Windows 11 support is absolutely not a metric for performance. I have a Surface Go 2 tablet/laptop, it’s officially supported for Windows 11 and it reminds me of this every damn time I turn it on, but it’s probably the slowest “nice” computer I’ve ever used. It has a gorgeous screen, slim and beautiful design, decent backlit keyboard cover, but it is S-L-O-W! It can do exactly one thing at a time, no multitasking here, and I’ve got the 8GB RAM version so it’s not starved for memory. It’s simply from that last generation of ULV mobile processors that can only squeeze out so much performance at six watts in a 14nm lithography.
In short, don’t buy this just because you might get Windows 11 compatibility, because you could end up with a snail with a Windows 11 logo on it.
Administrator, I love mysteries but to my knowledge there is no i5-8200u; there is an i5-8200y and an i5-8250u and the differences can be important. Please confirm and correct.
[MOD: It was a typo. The actual minimum CPU model is i5-8250U.]
Sooo slow…

They exist. Specifically only in HP models that can be found in some overseas markets, so it’s probably a higher badged chip that failed QC, so they were rebadged and sold in bulk to be put in a budget laptop
You new around here? This is what we do…there’s a reason all legit Wooters covet the $10 BOC…Hang around long enough and you’ll understand…or maybe you won’t…either way, we’ll be having fun with it…hopefully you’ll decide to join us:partying_face:![]()

For $10 more, I can guarantee my specs at DellRefurbished.com, and get a 15" laptop with an 8th gen i5, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and a full HD screen. Or a 13.3" laptop with an 8th gen i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and full HD resolution. Both can run Windows 11. Add $30 and I can get an i7 with similar specs. (They are under the Hot Deals link in the menu.)

Sometimes I am interested in these deals, but if I ended up with a dumb non-HD screen, I would be ticked off. So no thanks.
Yeah too much range in the hardware for my blood. You end up with a 13" HD screen & 8gb of RAM, while the guy person next to you gets a 15" FHD with 32gb of RAM for the same price? I’m out.
The country is awash in used laptops.
I stick with FACTORY refurbished, not “Microsoft Authorized” [whatever that is].
Plain old “refurbished” only if really, really cheap. Too many failing Dell keyboards and weak batteries.
Woot make this real interesting by dropping that price point to $99. Thats BOC status!

TY.
Full HD Screen you say?
