So to be less whiny and more inquisitive…

Anyone who’s wooted a few times know what the Woot.com policy is for orders that they reserve but then end up dumping? I actually managed to see the message come up when my order was dumped the second time… something about the credit card processing failing. Based on the number of people with the same issue, I’m guessing this is either Woot’s fault or their credit card fulfillment partner’s fault. Now I’m just curious as to whether I should just live with the fact that I’m not getting what I wanted to order, should still be hopeful that Woot will make good on their statement that I had my 2 on reserve, or whether I REALLY need to be careful because I might get charged twice and not get any products.

BTW, I guess I get to be careful that Woot.com doesn’t end up ripping me off now. Like others have mentioned, my credit card company is now also stating a transaction for the purchase price of the two I ordered. So, while I now know that my credit card processing didn’t error because it was declined or somesuch, I now may get to deal with the hassle of trying to get Woot to refund my money. Oh joy!

Yup! I hope Woot doesn’t try to waffle on the guys that thought they were getting a pack of 2; it stated 2 in 2 different places, but now they’ve changed the item description. If they screwed up, they should have ended that woot early and just sucked it up for the ones that wanted 2 fer.

damnit! It was listed in my account, and now has disappeared from mine, too. I never did get a confirmation on the two (single) adapters I bought, and I was in early on it. I’m fairly upset!

I tried to buy two of these. It even said I baught it on my accounts page. Now its off my accounts page. Fishy!!!

They meant that both sales and credit card transactions happen at the same time, but in two different processes.

The jist of it was that the adapter sold so fast that the credit card process lagged behind and became a bottle neck. As credit cards were denied, for whatever reason, the “available quantity” rose above 0 and put the wireless router back on the main page so the remaining ones could be sold. But, at the same time, a back-order for those “waiting” was processed, decreasing the amount available (sometimes to 0). The cycle repeated, which is why it kept disappearing and reappearing.

At least, that’s how I understand it. That sure was crazy, cause I kept getting disappointed and then excited because I could get one. :o

My point was more that:

1. Maybe the staff could have ALSO spoken to the issue of a huge number of people screaming “Hey! what happened? My order disappeared!”

2. Maybe the server ALSO reverts back to a prior woot when the staff is canceling 1000’s of orders at a time due to “seller remorse”

Couldn’t agree more. I pm’ed that staffer guy asking exactly that. Haven’t heard back yet… When I do I will post.

I bought 2 of these things a few hours ago, I even checked my “My Account” to make sure they were there–and they were. I check it a couple minutes ago and they are gone!

Our database took a great big data dump earlier today and spit out several orders that should have gone through. Look for an email and/or a post here tomorrow and if you would still like to purchase the netgear adaptor, you will be able to. Sorry for the problems with this item.

For those that had the item disappear off the My Account page, email Woot and tell them. Thjis product was fine but I also bought a SanDisk Mp3 that had showed up as bought and then disappeared. I emailed Woot Sunday and they promptly restored it back on my page on Monday.
