I own a few of these and they work well. Simple to set up, reset if power drops, small footprint. I am in for 4.
do they work between buildings?
Bought one of these from the mothership and it dropped my wifi signal from 70mbps to 4mbps and I was right near the extender with no walls/objects in the way. Returned it immediately.
I’ve had nothing but troubles with mine… (keeps dropping the 5G)
I ended up putting it on the shelf for 6 months until Netgear notified me of a firmware update…
Since then, it seems to be better… but still spotty at times… (always dropping the 5G)
I’d have returned it if not past the return date.
Will these work with a Netgear router running DD-WRT, or does the router need to be running Netgear firmware?
I bought this exclusively because i upgraded my wifi camera in the front of my house I use for security (caught a mail thief once) from an older, superb 720p camera to a 1 step forward 2 steps back 1080p camera which couldn’t maintain connection in the exact same location and configuration as the previous camera. I put one of these in the middle of the house, with the wifi router in the back and camera in the front and now it seems fairly consistent. I set it to the same SSID and password as my router so devices connect to which ever is stronger.
Disclaimer: My house was built in 1912 and is a mess of plaster, drywall, brick, and god knows what else so even just covering 1100sqft this helped. Eagerly awaiting the Roomba wifi mapping update.
Were you using like manufacturer router aka Netgear or someone else?
Disappointing performance upgrade to say the least. I actually feel that these make the wifi worse. They don’t seem to connect well without line of sight. Easy to set-up? Yes. That’s about only good part I can see. Don’t waste your money.
