I wish the Pixel watches were guaranteed the same 7 years of updates like the recent Pixel Phones…
Yep, updates end on Oct. 1st, 2025. Right now all the Pixel watches have 3 years of updates (versus Samsung watches which promise 4 years, and Apple watches which typically get 4-5 years but don’t promise anything specific). A shame that the Pixel phones are so good with updates but not the watches.
Note that the watch will continue to work normally after software support ends, just like any phone would. Apps can continue to get updates too. But over time features may stop working as intended. Also security becomes a bigger risk after support ends (since there are no more security updates), so it might be worth stopping using features such as tap to pay.
So what you’re saying is that this is instant e-waste unless you plan on breaking it by October.
Nah. If you plan on using it solely as an actual watch, alarm, pedometer, and heartrate monitor, you’ll probably get functionality out of it for awhile.
