The ratings aren’t useful because they are submitted shortly after purchase. Smart TVs are horrible in the long term.
The problem with Fire (and Roku) TVs is that the hardware is already obsolete before it ships. And the TVs themselves] will completely outlast the Fire hardware inside. Slow processors, not much RAM, and only enough storage to have a handful of fully-installed apps (the rest will give you an “installing” delay). Which means you’ll have a fully functional television after a couple years that can barely boot to its home screen, let alone stream anything properly.
I used to be all-in with them just to simplify remotes and operating systems. I’ll never buy another one. Nothing but dumb TVs and separately replaceable streaming sticks/boxes from now on.
Several small bedroom TVs are now so slow that they never get turned on. And I have a high-end 65" 2023 Fire TV Edition that won’t stream anything on the internal hardware without stuttering–even though it’s the closest device to our router. I plug a newer streaming stick into that same TV’s HDMI port, launch the same app, and stream the same video? The standalone device works flawlessly even though it’s only a year newer.

Thanks for relating your experience. Ironically, I was looking at replacing a small old dumb TV and Firestick combination with this.
I have an Amazon fire tv in my bedroom that I purchased a couple years ago off Woot. I have hod no issues in that time, the picture is great, the connectivity is solid and the firestick performance is on par with the external unit. Honestly, Firestick performance is not all that great to begin with regardless of generation.
If you are looking for a bedroom TV to fall asleep to, this is a great deal.

honestly I do not buy TVs like this for the software. they have HDMI cables so I just try to find good value on a TV and then I can choose the operating system of my preference. whether it’s a cable box or an Android box or whatever

Where are you buying new dumb tvs? You can’t. You can buy monitors and a tv tuner I guess. But you don’t need to ever update a tv itself or connect it to the internet. Use other devices for that like a console, Roku, Blueray player etc.
Buy it for the tv quality first, streaming function second. Rtings.com can help you decide.
