Is this eligible for AppleCare+ ?

The one I just received wasn’t

Really? Weird that a new Macbook Pro isn’t eligible…is it really new? I don’t see a reason for it to be ineligible so it’s interesting that it isn’t.

It should be eligible if it’s new. I bought a refurbished one here last month. I took it to the apple store and they told me that it was eligible for for apple care plus.

so applecare+ is or is not eligible for this device?

Is this new then?looks noy

Yes, it’s new.

Applecare depends on Apple and it varies from rep to rep is what I’ve seen reported back from Wooters.

I just purchased this MacBook a week ago and during setup I noticed the warranty was indicated as expired. I had to call Apple and upload to them the serial number and screenshot of Woot receipt. Then the rep updated the purchase date in Apple’s system and activated the 1-year warranty. She also confirmed that AppleCare is available to add within 60 days.

PS. The product I received was brand new, in sealed, original packaging. Battery capacity was 100% with 2 cycles used.

Thank you for sharing. That’s pretty common with computers. The initial start date is set to the date it was sold to the retailer. Registering the item (or calling for Apple) will get everything reset.

Could you share how you uploaded the serial to Apple? The Woot online invoice doesn’t display the device serial number, which their customer service reps complain about. Thanks!

Customers just write the SN on the receipt themselves.

Small nitpick – the second image is the 14" MBP, not the 16" MBP.

I JUST PURCHASED THIS LAPTOP, RESEARCHED EVERYWHERE YOU CAN’T THIS PRICE EVEN REFURBISHED. ive been holding out and feel this will be my lifetime laptop. i still have a 2011 that chugs along but due for upgrade. this is a beast!!!

Ive been on hold for an hour talking to apple. They are not allowing me to update the date. They transferred me to another department are asking weird questions about where the items came from and how woot received them new if they arent an authorized retailer. They want the serial number on the receipt and without it the secondary department is being even more strict. How will you handle this for me? I spent 2300 almost with tax under the understanding i would have warranty and applecare ability and now i have nothing. I need help.

Hang up.
Call back and speak to a different rep.

I’ve seen that work for other people.

(Please Note: I’m not employed by Woot, but I volunteer to help in the forums.)

Others have written the serial number on the receipt and it’s worked fine. Also, tell them that we’re part of Amazon.

If that doesn’t work, you can return the item if you like…

I had no problem when describing Woot as an Amazon subsidiary. It’s right on the invoice. The lady on the phone did it for me in 5 minutes after I uploaded my proof.

Mine wasn’t either. It showed warranty as expired. I called apple, and they added the purchase date so I have a year warranty and apple care available if I decide to get this. I sent them copies of my email receipts from woot (these had Amazon logo on top, so made the process easier) the shipping receipt in the box and a screenshot form woot of the purchase.

It worked finally after 3 reps and multiole departments. Perhaps woot could consider what apple is looking for an provide (receipt with serial number printed on it) so that the customer doesn’t have to deal with all of this to get what woot is advertising (1 year apple warranty).
