(NEW) Denon AH-C830NCW Active Noise Cancelling Earbuds

Is this as good of a deal as it seems? I am still seeing these listed for $149 so is this like an offer i cant refuse type of sale or just another average woot deal on half decent earbuds?

Demon makes good A/V receivers, but earbuds aren’t what they are known for. They are probably decent earbuds.

Denon is also now owned by Harman, who is now a subsidiary of Samsung, and owner of JBL, AKG, Harman Kardon, Mark Levinson, Lexicon, Infinity, Revel, AMX, Soundcraft, Studer, Sound United (Polk Audio, Denon, Marantz), and Harman Becker Automotive Systems, and several other quality audio brands.

So, even tho Denon has not been in this electronics space before, they’re probably using or leaning on tech from one of the sister units.

Been happy with my Perl Pros so I couldn’t resist. These are a few years old, no app, AAC and SBC only, IPX4, BT 5.0, so a couple generations behind everywhere but the sound quality reviews are generally very good. The Perls are a little bulky so these should be handy for carrying around, working out or anytime I want to block out annoying noises or people when I’m out and about.

Oh dangit! I bought these way before seeing that thing about 25% off.
So I went back and bought a second pair like a crazy person.
Don’t forget to use code “twentyfive,” people!

Doh! Well I guess there goes $10 down the drain. That’s OK, Jeff Bezos probably needs the cash more than I do.

These are probably just Chinese OEMs made on contract, and have nothing to do with those high-end companies. Even big brands like Philips do it.

Ok so not such a great deal. Anyone have some better choices under thirty bucks. My head is spinning because of the huge selection of cheap ear buds. I used to go by reviews but most earbuds in this price range have split opinions. Some buyers think they found a piece of gold while others feel they stepped in a pile of DS. Please, a little help. If not these than what??

Denon is an extremely premium brand they often sell like $300 earbuds in fact they bought out the neurobuds which were one of the first earbuds to have aptX lossless

That said these are not quite as premium as those based on the price point but still $30 for anything by Denon is tempting. I would want to do some research as to the release date though since the batteries are of course aging.

But this is a serious company to be getting any product from them for $30 for audio is highly unusual and potentially a great steal

I highly doubt that. Denon not a company that white labels OEM products. Don’t get me wrong they probably rely on custom manufacturing from China like everyone else but this is a company that bought out Nura. It’s like a pretty serious Hi-Fi company.

And you could probably test this by doing a reverse image search and seeing if anything pops up on AliExpress or Alibaba with the exact same shape and body

But I really don’t think Denon would do that.. not because they’re too ethical or anything but just because they have a pretty serious brand reputation as a hifi audio company..

I mean I would be very surprised if this company is just white labeling generic OEM earbuds from China. I’m going to do some research and I’ll let you know if I find anything new but this is a company that has a pretty good reputation for Hi-Fi audio. Has huge margins and prices.

The bigger risk here is that you’re buying a true wireless earbuds which already have a pretty finite life and these are older earbuds hence the low price.

But on paper this is an amazing deal if the batteries can last a year or two it’s certainly a better deal than you’re going to get typically for 30 bucks which would land you something like the sound core life p30i, 0r jlab GoPods AMC or something.

Me 30 bucks is basically a generic entry level point for earbuds these days You normally would not get something from a company like den
On.

But it might be worth looking around for anecdotal reports on like the subreddit for earbuds or on headphone advice. Because the price is so good it’s might be a little suspiciously good.

But my hunch is that The discount is primarily cuz these are just old and if they don’t get them off the shelf eventually the batteries will die entirely.

Petition to bring back the 25% off.

Sounds like you are on top of things. Thanks for your detailed reply and I would love to know what you find out about these but in truth I feel confident that I would not go wrong checking out anything you would recommend. I have tons of earbuds from years ago but have not purchased any lately so looking to get a few different sets to compare. For the fun of it. I am all ears.

$30.00 is pretty much entry level. Earfun, Tozo, and Soundcore make good earbuds, and Amazon has a big spring sale which brings the prices to just above black Friday deals. Search those brands, and look at the reviews. The Soundcore P31i are currently marked down to $37.00 from $60.00 and have 4.5 rating.

Mine arrived today and I was about to write a scathing review saying they were dead on arrival. Then I noticed there was a sticker across the bottom of the earbuds. I’ve never seen that before and feel stupid for not looking at them. So I left them charging overnight and they work fine. So … yeah … if you’re having issues with them, make sure to remove the sticker.

So anyway, I left them charging over night and the right earbud, for some reason, didn’t charge. I stuck it back in the charging case for a few minutes and it charged … so maybe it was just not seated perfectly? Not sure, but it’s definitely working.

Anyway … all that aside … the noise canceling is phenomenal and the sound quality is very, very good. For the price, these are amazing. I have a number of earbuds - both expensive (Apple Air Pods, Samsung buds) and cheap (a few different Baseus ones). These are shockingly good - I think the noise canceling is better than Apple. For the price, there isn’t a better deal.

I peeled the stickers off mine and let it charge until the green light came on but they seem dead. When I open the case the green light comes on but neither my Macbook or phone see them. If open the case and hold down the button on the back of the case either the green light goes out or it does blink white a couple of times but then goes out. Again never shows up for pairing. Did you have any trouble like that?

Update: I plugged them in to charge a while longer and they are working.
