These got to be worth it now, right? Right?
Wife got them, very heavy. More of a collector thing as they were something for the pandemic.
I’ve chimed in before, as an owner of these, which I purchased on a prior Woot sale.
Yes, the mask is a silly joke, and definitely just a vestigial reminder of a world that we have largely left behind. I won’t comment beyond that, as I don’t use that thing at all.
BUT, I would stand by my previous recommendation as these have super-solid build quality, great sound (and extremely tunable in the companion app), and very clean ANC for general use. They may not be exactly the same ANC performance as Sony or Bose, and not exactly the audiophile pedigree of Sennheiser or B&W, but I do not regret my purchase at all. These are now some of my fav cans for travel, and whenever I can’t wire into my own audiophile gear for a stationary listening session.
Come for the laughs, and stay for the actual headphones. They’re seriously quite good.
I keep thinking of getting these. Wonder if they’ll go down another few bucks next time around.
Probably not as long as people keep singing their praises in the forum. (Jk)
They are worth it at this price.
you are approaching the performance of studio cans and they are remarkably comfy considering the weight.
And I would like to point out that the ANC is quite good. Is it Sony? No…but it won’t leave sweaty rings around your ears due to the near hermetic seal. Are they as comfy as Bose? No, but I don’t think anything is if your cabeza is a bit on the large side.
But if you want to drown out the outside world while listening to hifidelity music or even an audiobook, these are great.
If what you want is to flip a switch and find yourself in an Aural sensory deprivation zone, skip the Bose and find a classic NuraPhone or it’s closest ancestor the Denon phones.
My wife has the Denon earbuds and can’t hear me talking to her when she is in the seat next to mine in the car. And honestly the NuraPhones were a bit much…it felt like being deafened.
And it had one glitch I discovered…certain high frequency sounds would get amplified rather than canceled. So when I was putting away the silverware and the forks or knives would clink off each other, it would produce a momentary loop that sounded like the peaks on a 1kHz square wave…but other than that it was awesome!
Anyway, the Dyson’s are one of the most satisfying purchases I have made. Take advantage of the negative reputation due to the mask looking like you are on your way to comic-con, and splurge a bit.
Actually I think they have! Weren’t they $199 for the regular ones? Now $169.
I’d also pitch my 2 cents, the audio pass through is the best I’ve ever experienced. I wore these while on a meeting on my quiet laptop and could both hear the conversation and my music clearly with my voice coming through naturally. My Sony mx4s could never.
Also the hard case is enormous but very nice.
AND a Dyson branded usb c cable? Coolest kid on the block!
Additional fun fact, these are NOT for the pandemic. These are not microbial filters, they’re particulate filters, primarily around smog and pollen. It just so happens that it came out when covid did, but these are not meant to filter that.
Think city, subway, heavy pollen. But I will say it does actually work for that!
Did you have any luck at finding the “missing” Community Face Covering? It’s in the manual and demo video, but I feel that it’s critical to the product. Disappointed to use the visor without the sealed part. Tried contacting Dyson but was put on eternal hold with chat. Curious.
