Go here, to the last time this was sold, a week ago, to hopefully avoid having to reconstruct the dialog about this Echo Auto gen 1. $10 remains a nice deal, particularly since it is new and unmolested by the heat of a prior owner’s vehicle… as long as you understand what this is and how it performs…

No worries! This Echo Auto gen 1 $10 deal seems to be in endless supply, but you gotta be persistent to find the on and off again sale at Woot:

I got this item and I am loving it in my car. I start off the morning with a flash news briefing and the temperature and commute time. I also set reminders and alerts. I add things to my calendar and play music and podcasts. I am sure there is more but I am discovering it as I go along. I also found out the 1st generation is better than the 2nd. Love it so far.

Bought one last time woot had it for $10 (just recently). LOVE it!!! I sometimes have to drive long distances for family or friends’ events. I plug this in and can call out any band name or genre I want, however frequently I want, and get a custom playlist in an instant (music service required, Alexa is compatible with many). This is worth MORE than its weight in gold to me. :w_happy1:

There’s an app for that? What does this do that an Alexa app won’t do?

I just received my Echo Auto in the mail yesterday. :raised_hands:t5: I cannot wait to try it! I am just noticing the type of vents it’s compatible with and the ones it’s not. I think I have the non compatible vent :frowning: but we will see when I go to try it later.

Had been watching these for a while and finally bit. I have an older volvo with an integrated radio. The built in system for voice control is terrible and no option for Android Auto (does offer some limited Apple functionality, but who needs that!) This allows to me actually be fully hands-free and less likely to drive off the road at high speed trying to enter an address like with the old system. Used to navigate to the airport and shuffle thru a few artists - so far I’m lovin’ it!

On a side note, I did find an aftermarket product that might provide some Android Auto functionality, but runs a couple hundred and requires some surgery (I don’t think too bad - I’ve installed a few radios) but for ten bucks, figured I’d try it out.

I finally got this and in our CX9 2020 it works great. It doesn’t fight with android auto. It does exactly what I wanted which is play kid music on demand. Sometimes you just need itsy bitsy spider hands free. Ordering another for my wife’s car.

Great price, if you’re thinking about it. Was on the mothership a couple days ago and they were selling refurbished units for like $45 each. You can get the new version (bundled with a vent holder - not included anymore) for less!!! The absolute worst piece of tech I’ve ever tried.
This thing is not only garbage but unsafe. It never connects properly, cannot make a command. Bought mine when it was new and threw it away
