(NEW) Google Pixel Fold 5G Smartphone

Ah, the question that always appears on the Pixel threads. I see that it is carrier unlocked, but does anyone know if it’s also bootloader unlocked? I know the Pixel phones sold directly through Google were unlocked but models destined for Best Buy or carrier stores tended to be locked.

(again, I know it’s carrier unlocked. That’s not the question.)

The models which go to carriers aren’t carrier unlocked, so those would also have locked bootloaders.

I don’t believe that Google ever sold a version of any of the Nexus or Pixel phones which were carrier unlocked, but came with a locked bootloader.

If I had mint mobile. Would that be able ok as a carrier. Also. What is the return policy. Is it 90 days? What does 1 year vendor warranty mean or include

Yes.

Here’s Woot’s return policy:

If you click on the warranty link, you’ll see what’s included with it.

(Please note: I don’t work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)

Holy expletive, this has to be the lowest price I think I’ve ever seen on a pixel fold. I might have to jump on it, but I don’t know if I’m liquid enough to make a $500 impulse purchase at this point in my life… but what a fantastic price!

It’s a tensor G2, same as the pixel 7 series. Buyers should do their own research as this is a already an older design. The latest pixels have a tensor G5 chip.

This is the original fold, from 2023. The pixel 9 fold and the 10 fold are the successors to it. I wouldn’t touch this deal. the G2 tensor is old…

Exact reason why i came to read comments. Much appreciated!!

If you have to ask yourself if your liquid enough, you’re not. Don’t tempt yourself, this is a 3-year-old phone with a G2 chip. It’s basically obsolete at this point already. If you truly need a new phone you can get a 1-year-old pixel for about the same price :folded_hands:. Good luck.

I love my pixel fold. I bought a referb model here ($479), and the battery was/is amazing. It is nice to be able to have a tablet when you need one, and a phone when you don’t. Old technology for whom? … If it does what I need it to do, and still gets updates, I don’t need to be on the leading edge …

Good for you (I’m serious). I am trapped in the technology upgrade :frowning: Once I use new generation, I can’t go back to the slower reaction (even only a bit) and un-smooth screen display.

I have a Pixel fold and like it but in my opinion it’s not a grab and go phone. It’s real heavy and a bit bulky it’s not my every day phone.

I played around with a few different foldables while doing my trade-in games with Google and Samsung.

I have mixed feelings.

I just don’t trust a folding screen to hold up.

I don’t know about the Pixels, but I’ve bought every version of Galaxy Z Fold since they first came out I’m opening and closing them all the time, and I’ve never had a problem.

Thank you! I was almost tempted to buy it, but the comments helped me not to buy it. This is really old phone — almost 3 years old.

Glad it has worked out for you.

I bought both Nexus 4 and 5. Carrier unlocked, and unlocking the bootloader was trivially easy.

Funny, it has the same processor as my “works great, less AI!” Pixel 7, which works great, and isn’t completely filled with AI that I don’t need in my phone.

I do worry about the long term survival of folding screens though…
