(NEW) JLab Talk Go USB Microphone

(NEW) JLab Talk Go USB Microphone

I am a working radio guy/author just finishing the script for my audiobook on podcasting. I thought I should blow $16 to have a mediocre mic to demo (not using the name.) Wow! was I wrong! At least for my voice (and mics vary) it sounds really good!

Bought 3 more for spares, heck the nice USB cable is worth $10!

I’d grab one quick.

If it’s new, why doesn’t the 2 year JLab warranty apply?

They may have an improved model coming and cleared these out cheap, minus the long warranty. Mine is fine and I bought two more. The USB cable is really nice and worth half the price!

This is one of the best microphones you can get for a budget price. At $16, it’s a steal. I ended up getting the HyperX Solocast at half-price ($30) on Black Friday, but this would have been my choice if I’d missed that deal.

Does anyone know the size of this mic, i.e., the height specifications, etc.?

From the JLab manual:

According to the images, it comes with the 2 year warranty

These microphones are quite good especially for the price. I have one, paid $35 for it. We use them at work for VSA testing (Voice Stress Analysis). The sound quality is good and the cardioid noise cancelling works well (you can use omni directional with no canceling if you wish). Going to pick up a few backups.

Gee, this mic is so great everyone is buying 2 or 3!!! Also, you should buy it for the cable alone!!

Beware of Shill’s, Wooters.

That’s a review from a regular Wooter. Please refrain from name calling as it’s against the community guidelines.

Why “shill’s,” but not “Wooter’s”?

Shill, shmill. People like me [professionals, 40 years in broadcasting] buy extra mics when on sale as spares.

Currently I use one on a floor stand and another with the standard tripod, leaving only one spare. Buying two more.

This mic “likes” my voice, meaning it sounds good with no processing needed. Just remotely recorded a show with another pro who said the mic sounded great to him.
I’m getting ready to record another commercial audiobook, this one on podcasting basics, and I may use this mic. My 7th audiobook, BTW.

And the USB cords really are quite good.

Darn, Woot won’t let me buy two more! I thought the limit was three per order. Nuts.

Snagged one recently for basic audio chatting (Discord, gaming, etc). Seems to work pretty well. Folks on the other end say I come through clear and without much background noise (a/c, typing, bored children asking if we can play dress-up again, etc). For the price, this was a great addition to my home office/gaming set-up.
